That's why we play the games. Face it, some have to get on here and try to convince themselves their team is good. In the end, the only thing that matters is that your team wins.

I see where you're coming from @RCC9 and yes a great draw obviously helps in the post season but let's be real the lady royals are 27-3 with some really good quality wins. A lot of Mason County fans are concerned and they just have to understand nothing comes easy come tournament time. As far as the prediction goes I'll take the lady royals in another close game.

One thing I find amusing, and I've noticed it time after time, is that a lot of folks on these forums use the cloak of invisibility (username) to rant or take pot shots at others from time to time. The problem with that is all someone has to do to see where a person's allegiance lies is look at their previous posts. And, when polls are posted on these forums, it is explicitly stated that everyone can see your vote. I'm just puzzled that a person would have a kid on a team, and cast their vote for the other team, especially in a big game such as this. I don't know, I guess I'm a homer, but even if I was a gambler I'd still bet on my "home team". Maybe the reason is motivation to be able to tell your player " see, all those people don't give you a chance in this game" or something like that. But the problem with that is I'm pretty sure most kids know their parents' usernames on here. My kid wouldn't talk to me for a week if she knew I voted against her team, she would take it personal. I'm not going to name any names or call anyone out, because they know who they are. I just found it odd...

No offense, but this is the first one I have seen like this. Usually, the pole has them dominating. Then again poles are just the counting of opinions. Either way look for a great couple of games!!!

I think a much better storyline game would be a Scott/ SK game. A renewal of thier regular season rivalry. But that is getting way ahead of ourselves. Both teams have to play through some tough tournament games where if anything is certain this year is that truly anything can happen.

It was a brilliant catch on your part, to actually care who voted for what at 1:47AM….And how magnanimous of you to abstain from the vote….was it the “hah, here in the 8th we have no need for such silly balloting”…..I should have done the same when I voted for Owen County over SK(I didn’t ask how many points you are laying, so my bad, I guess I'm not a gambler either).

 

My kid doesn’t talk to me for weeks on end now, so maybe I show her and I get the sarcastic, “thanks a lot, Dad”….It would be something, right?

 

Ok, reality check time. What is BGP “Girls Basketball” thread posters/lurkers composed of:

75%-Players Parents

15%-Assistant Coaches who have little birdies telling them things

20%(yes, I know the math)-X- Youth Coaches who “yeah but” and “I don’t understand” every coaching decision from Calipari to Calvary...

1%-Players whose parents call them over and say “see what they said about you”?(BTW-These are not good parents)

 

So- if you segment this group further what do you get? You get a whole lot of Kenton, Mason and Campbell County(Sorry Boone) folks with “L’s” on their foreheads who have nothing better to do with their paltry existences(guilty) than post smack 24/7 about a game that mostly, they are bystanders in. We’re here to wash the uniforms, give them a hug, and give them $10 for BW’s after the game.

 

So whether your posts are positive for the young ladies who actually go out and compete, or like so many are chock-full of schadenfreude(every dweller south of the Fun Center at Paradise Isle will need to look that one up) AND ulterior motives, remember IT’S JUST A GAME. At the end of the day BGP is no more than an opportunity to hear and be heard at either 1:47am or 2 in the afternoon.

Let me ask this...and I know I'll take a beating from the MC faithful, but it won't be the first time...or the last I'm sure.

 

Is it possible that last year's MC team just happened to get hot at the right time at the end of the year to get out of their region, got a great draw in the state tournament and made it to the final four.

 

AND NOW...the expectations for this team were set maybe just a little too high...based on their run last year?

 

I just keep hearing how they aren't playing well and only playing up to a certain percentage, etc. Maybe it's just that they aren't that much better than the teams they are playing or the teams they rolled earlier this year or last year have figured them out? Is that possible?

I guess all I can say is wow...Google is a great tool to look up big words...but how kryptonian of you to admit it ( you can google that word too).... And as for abstaining ( I'm on a roll with the big words!) from the voting, I did post that I am rooting for Mason to win in the 10th and SK in the 8th to see a rematch of a game that was certainly more interesting than the Scott/ SK game. I was only elucidating (oh.. There's another one!) a thought.. but since you decided to push the issue, why would you vote against your own kid's team? Actually, there's no need for you to answer that because that's your business and I really could care less. Your daughter is a very good player and could be very prodigious ( one more for ya) at the next level.
