Now is the time for the Libertarian Party

Featured Replies

In a fractious year such as this when voter turnout figures to be very low, I can't think of a better time for the Libertarian Party to make a run for legitimacy.

All that is needed is 5 percent of the vote, which should be attainable in such a year as this.

I see a lot of people upset with the available options from the D and R side, and a great deal of frustration overall with the process. It's what drove me into the Independent camp about 6-7 years ago. I couldn't muster myself to cast a vote in 2008, and that didn't seem right. In '12, I went ahead and went with Gary Johnson so at least I could feel better about myself.

The best way to show your frustration is for a mass amount of people to cast protest votes so as to get a viable third party into the mix that could call the other two sides out on how they've both mucked it up so badly. Even if you don't agree with all of his positions, by getting a third party a seat at the table you can hold the D's and R's feet to the fire.

If we were still able to like posts, this would be the one to give one to.

Couldn't agree more.

The Donald is a third party candidate. Just not a declared Libertarian .

Working on it and agree.

Sadly, I'm afraid the powers that be will not allow a new party arise.

They will just split support in the fall with the same candidates. Trump party, Cruz-Republican, Bloomberg, Clinton- Democrat.

Its funny they made Trump pledge not to run a third party campaign is he's not the gop nominee.

Now the GOP blue bloods are plotting to do just that if Trump wins the nomination.

And people wonder how Trump can be winning, hypocritical politicians, there's your answer.

Love the libertarian party. Wish Rand Paul was their candidate, but Johnson is okay too (fiscally, at least).

The only chance I was going to vote for a Republican went out the window when Paul faltered. Libertarian for me.

They should have to allow the Libertarian Party candidate to participate in the presidential debate. That's the only way they get their message nationwide and people see what they're about and how they perform.

The Libertarians need to not think about the presidency and get candidates in local elections. If they want to start a grassroots movement that might have legs long term, then they really need to try grabbing for city councils and state legislatures.

Definitely think that would help.

Great Point! Takes a lot of time to fight (and change) the existing "machine" that is our national politics--Regardless of whether they have a "D" or "R" after their name.
