Pioneers district champs!!!

Sounds like SK ladies are playing some good ball at the right time. Gotta love Coach Stowers he's a class act.

Niece is the complete difference maker. She scores, penetrates and dishes to teammates for open looks, rebounds, and plays D. Young lady can do it all and has the rest of this season and two more years!!!!

In my opinion, the huge difference maker was the way SK shot the three in the first half. Multiple players finding net on about every attempt they made in the first half. It was a bombardment. I have no idea, but it seemed that SK shot like 70-80 percent from downtown in the first half...maybe better:eek: In comparison, with Walton missing all of their first 7 or 8 three attempts, the game got away from them in a hurry. Walton had some good looks with the defense collapsing or double teaming Ison, but they just would not fall.

 

If SK shoots like that on the perimeter, added to Niece doing her thing, and Meier in the paint, they will be very tough to beat.

 

I was proud of my Bearcats how they came out in the third and played much better, and shots started falling. They did not lay down after taking one on the chin in the first half. Lord willing, they will get another swing at the 'neers in the regional final, but there are some good teams they will have to beat to get there so it may not happen.

Agreed. She makes the machine go. And when players on the perimeter hit threes when defenses focus on her, it makes SK all the more dangerous.

Of the SK games I have seen this year, this was by far the best played game of the year. There was no letting off the gas pedal in this one as SK had the penetration game. post game and perimeter shooting game all humming. Walton was intent on making sure Niece did not beat them, but the jump trapping and defense over loading opened up both the perimeter game and the post. SK also handled the press very well compared to most games played this season.

 

I would hate to be an SK opponent looking at tape of this game. What do you try and take away?

 

Triples, I give you credit for coming on here under these circumstances. Perhaps we will see you again at regionals.

Pioneer Pride. There is no shame in seeing your team get beat by a good basketball team playing great basketball. Besides, God is good all the time, and life does not revolve around basketball. :thumb:

Credit coaching and SK's schedule for the build up and momentum that they've created going into the regional (and prob state) tournament.

 

Maggie Jones is the girl that was hitting those threes. She maybe only an 8th grader but she is far under utilized IMO on this team. She's shooting over 45% from behind the arc! Her ball handling is excellent. I predict we see a lot more of her when the games really start to matter over the next two weeks.

I am well aware of the youngest Ms. Jones. I have shot around with her and have even thrown a couple shooting tips and encouragement her way in the past.

Yes she was. And although she scored her average last night, she has grown leaps and bounds since that last meeting with walton.She is now more of a team player...her assist totals have risen and so has her court awareness.

Don't get me wrong, she can and will continue to be Simons go -to scorer, but I do believe that she is feeling confidence in other players and realizing that SK's successes are from the team as a whole, and not just from 1.

She is an amazing athlete. ....she makes the team better......and the team has made her better! Best of luck to them!

This is a strong SK team and will only be better next year.
