Augusta 63 Mason County 61 (39th District Championship)

I love how when Mason County gets beat people come out of the woodwork to bash them.. It's quite comical, but when you've had as much success as the Royals have had over the past 15 years I guess you get "haters" :idunno:

Speaks volumes, doesn't it?

I love how when every time Mason gets beat they come out of the woodwork to whine, pout and make excuses. You got beat, end of story. And sorry to say you don't have too many "haters." People do hate Mason's attitude, disrespect and everything else negative I have mentioned.

Very few Mason Countians have it in them to show an ounce of respect for other athletic programs accomplishments. You reap what you sow and respect isn't given, it's earned and Mason does a poor job of it.

Success is all a matter of perception I suppose. Mason has failed several of the youth in our area by allowing such poor sportmanship and lack of integrity in the game of life on and off the court. Gauge succes however you like but I'll take Augusta's success any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

3 district titles in 4 years, and an All A region Title. Kinda hard to knock that, especially when A-Town does it with class and respect.

Amen! I can guarantee there wouldn't be any ref smearing or excuses made on Augusta's part if they had lost.

If the game was played at the Fieldhouse, and the fouls were 19-10 with 19 on Augusta and Mason wins, fans from all over the state would be posting how Mason cheated and homered them. FACT!!!!!!

Guess you can't reason with everyone. I'm truly sorry that I didn't donate some tissues to be left at the exit door of the Igloo. Sounds like you and several others could use a box or two.

"The lion never loses sleep to the opinions of sheep." Enjoy that second place trophy!

You talk about Mason being poor losers you are not such a class act in winning. I need no tissue as I not shed a tear. Augusta took advantage to every mistake Mason made at the end and won. Mason had Augusta covered for about 29 minutes of the game and that somehow gets lost. I have no problems with Augusta and what they accomplished but the fouls totals are fact, not made up. I track the points each year for Augusta and even put together a book on Augusta's history. I don't think I would spend as much time on Augusta Basketball if I hated them. Just don't be made and call me out for being a graduate and fan of Mason County.

Augusta beat Mason on the fieldhouse floor and that's called A fluke, they beat you at bracken and it's because of the ref's ??? Maybe stop coming up with excuses and pointing fingers and just face the fact augusta had a great group of kids the past 5 years, and respect there success and realize that Mason is not the only team in the 39th..

Do you guys just read what you want in my posts? I said the refs never cost us this game. But the facts on the fouls are what it is. I never said it was a fluke. Just because I am from Mason and everyone knows who I am does not mean that I should get every Mason County posters comments directed to me. I have witnessed every Mason-Augusta game that has been played and the fouls called deems to be a pattern. Now you guys can go ahead and trash me and call me and Mason County some more names.

I wish Augusta very good luck new week in the Region but I sure no one believes that!!!!!!!

You say there is a pattern to the fouls in ALL the Mason vs Augusta games? Is it some conspiracy against Mason ?? Or is it just the aggressive type of ball that Mason plays ?? I really just think its a result of the aggressive style ball Mason plays, there more athletic stronger and bigger, so Augusta plays smarter and blocks out, witch get over the back call, Mason likes to try to block shots and not stay on there feet witch results in more fouls.. I wish them both well in the region.

I agree with this this on playing aggressive and blocking shots. But Augusta played agressive and pressed and rode Pig up and down the floor. Our two bigs don't attack the basket much but Pig and Garrison sure does. But when you get outshot from FT line every game by a wide margin, that is a pattern.

Not knocking Royals, but they are not a good FT shooting team (63%). They leave a lot of points and second attempts with their front end misses. Their aggressive defense normally is going to create a lot of fouls, but couple that with their athleticism which allows them to try for the spectacular defensive play, as opposed to a focus on position and fundamentals.

I have been at several Augusta games and my impression is they get away with fouls consistently. I amnot a Mason county fan or graduate.
