On average, yes. Lexington and Louisville produce most of the D1 talent in Ky. It's crazy to say an 8th grader is in the top 2 or 3 of his position because you haven't seen everyone at his position. Not everyone travels for middle school football. And history has shown that NKY doesn't produce D1 talent consistently. So why put that pressure on a kid. Just let him develop and see what he is. Parents making statements like that at this age is what sets kids up for failure during their junior and senior seasons.

 

I'm not a parent, and I did travel the state and evaluate the talent. Without question as of right not he is in the top 10 of his position and I would put him in the top 5. I agree that those top 10 will change by the junior or senior season. However, there are also kids in that group that have what it takes to sustain. England has a couple things he will have to improve, but he has many of the things college coaches will be looking for.

OK your point is correct to a point. We played two louisville schools in the playoffs and and traveled south all over the state in the last two years, it's there opinion that he was better than anyone they seen in a long time. We also traveled acrossed the river to Cincinnati three times and his film has been seen by varsity coaches over there and they seem to think that he's probably the best on both sides of the water as they put it. I'm partial but the feedback has been garnered by independent sources not just mine and his coaches. Sometime in 7th and 8th you see the upward track of a kid starting. this kid was on the line untill 7th grade so this isn't a little league phenom, he's just starting to be a skill. I've seen younger kids that were good in peewee be good in ms, be good in hs. Not everyone fizzles out. I've seen many kid's who were small framed Rb's and killed it in little league and never even played in HS. they didn't have the size, So I don't always make statements lightly when saying a player is really good. Just a few nuggets. 6200 yards from scrimmage in two years, Rarely played the whole third and hardly ever played the 4th quarter. 94 td's, Selected to team Ky two years in a row. Only three to four RB's on that team so that's a nugget in itself. the kid is 5ft 9in, 175, runs a true 4.62 was just timed a week ago, ran it twice. Is in the weight room every day, runs track and plays basketball. is a good athlete in all the sports. His own coaches have said a kid like this comes around once or twice in there coaching lifetime. So yea he may be special. May be great, maybe be just above average, I don't think fizzeling out is an option. the where you are born or live is not a genetic code to how good you can be. I don't get that. but ok, I was born in Cincinnati and started varsity freshman, sophomore, junior years, moved to Florida and started senior year, his mother is from Florida and is half jamaican ( sprinters ). ex Nfl RB Travis Henry and countless college athletes in the 1st cousin tree. so if living in Union is a handicap and not Louisville there is your locality of genetics infusion that shouldn't be such a hindrance to him. Time will tell if your right or most who have evaluated him are wrong. The kid is special you'll see.

Derrick Henry ran a 4.56 40 at the combine. You're son is not within 1 tenth of a second of Derrick Henry.

I don't care if you are playing small division schools or not, 6,000 plus yards is impressive no matter how you look at it. I would love to see a Campbell County uniform on that boy!

@Fear the Nation, you mentioned it in your last post, I remember him when he was on the line in Boone Co Pee Wee. Coach Shannon said then that he wouldn't be there for long and would follow in his brother's footsteps to RB. I believe Colin was also a lineman when he first started. That often happens in Pee Wee due to the size restriction on skill positions. Some big kids with speed and agility have to start out on the line. Though, I don't think Kyle was over the weight limit to be a RB when he was in 5th grade. I do remember a quiet kid who was very coach-able.

What pressure? He's just a kid having fun. There are no expectations on him other than work and play hard and have fun.

We played large div schools all year With only 18 to 20 players on our team. We were out numbered most of the time. 3 cincy teams perenial powerhouse from Indiana, 2 louisville schools. We played a tougher schedule than any ms team in NKY by far.

Sour grapes, if all defenses are that bad why aren't all MS backs like that and have that production? Some of you guys are always putting stock into the good now but not good later theory. Some kids just have it and it grows. Just be happy the kid is good and from our area instead of being such a debbie downer all the time. After all he's going to be kicking your schools butts for the next 4 years..fact. Lol. You are more than welcome to come time him yourself, since you think our varsity staff is incompetent. Some kids are fast, cant be taught or coached. Is what it is. Last year he was the fastest on team KY all positions, this year Maybe second or first again. Again next sat at woodward with a speed coach you are more than welcome to time him. You cant say something isn't correct because you dont think so. Come get your proof.! A good work ethic and good attitude doesn't lead to disappointment. If you walk off the field after giving it your all, you carry your head high. I have played Hs ball, Div 2 college ball, coached 8 years, and am a student of the game. I understand how " it works". Statements made in a sports blog don't put expectations on a kid. His coaches and teammates put more pressure on themselves than our posts due 100 fold. The only pressure from home kyle gets is to be a good kid, student and the best teammate he can be, period.
