Percentages dictate that higher numbers will by chance give you a higher number of athletes. You just have to keep them. I would guess that by senior year that number will be half. Now keeping most of them would be the goal. Never happens though.

Miami offered. 6'3 190 pound 8th grade QB from Georgia.

May be off topic, but the Georgia all star team that Team KY played has 3 8th graders that have already received D-1 offers. The QB (Miami) you mentioned as well as a WR (Georgia) and RB/SS. I believe they also have a DE that is being recruited by Auburn. That Georgia team beat KY 10-0 and there was not much of a difference of talent on the field. There were several KY kids that showed they have the talent to play D-1 ball. Huddleston and England from Northern KY were definitely two of those kids. I've said it before and I may get ridiculed, but KY has a lot of football talent. May not be as much depth as other states, but there is definitely big time talent. Where we struggle is getting the kids the exposure on the recruiting trail.

Are you talking Freshman results? If so SK decided to go to a full 2 platoon system at the Freshman level 3 years ago. Forgoing Freshman results and concentrating on developement and player retention is a big part in the maturation of their program. The incoming senior class is the first of this bunch and they are set to have 33 seniors on this year's team. There is a lot of talk on how the rest of the state can compete with the big boys in Louisville. One of those steps is number of players to choose from. Trinity, Male, and St X all have freshman football classes that are 70+ players consistently. Only time will tell if this narrows the gap but SK's recent success in NKY, at the Varsity level, seems to indicate that at the very least its putting them at or near the top of the NKY food chain.

I'm not involved with Highlands and don't really have any connections there. I would assume he would play Varsity or possibly JV. He has the talent to start on the Varsity level at most schools across the state. However, I know Highlands dresses a lot of football players and I can't speak to what they return this season. I would think that they would find some kind of a role for someone with his talent.

I see Highlands, Ryle and SK which I think will all have good teams.

Scott should be good too, they won the middle school league and Turkeyfoot's top play maker is at Woodland and going to Scott.

 

I don't know much about any Boone Co teams other than Ryle but am curious.

CC split games with Summitview and beat Woodland. Show some love??

1) How do they really know that many will come out? These are 8th graders 2/3's of the way through the current school year. Are they already enrolled or something?

2) Great problem to have I guess, but how in the world do they organize that and get kids on the field? I know Cov Cath basketball briefly considered creating two Frosh teams in order to get as many as possible playing, but in the end, the KHSAA dictates that Frosh only play a certain # of games period, regardless how many Frosh teams you field. So if you play 20 total games, team A plays 10 and team B plays 10.

The 8th graders have been in strength and conditioning for about a month now and numbers have been hovering around the 60s. With kids playing winter sports and some just being lazy 87 is probably pretty accurate. I in no way think they will have 87 kids still on the team by the first game but I would expect around 70.

70 is a HUGE roster for a frosh team.
