Louisville 71 Duke 64

Featured Replies

Had this recorded and just finished watching it. Duke fell victim to the type home cookin' that they so often benefit from. I guess that's what they call justice, it all comes back around, karma. I don't know but I do know that Duke really got hosed and imo anyway there was no question about it.

I absolutely do not prefer one of these teams over the other so my opinion has nothing to do with me being upset over the outcome, in my world a perfect scenario would be for both to lose. :D

Oh wow that was an awesome amazing comeback win, it really doesn’t get much better than that, I love these Cardinals!!

(And, you guys can definitely have Allen on your imaginary teams. Mine would NOT include him.)

The city of Louisville was buzzing!! It was so fun hanging out on Bardstown Rd. last night with the good weather and the good win. People were everywhere, spilling out of restaurants & pubs. Loved the vibe, and as always, go Cards!

Numbers, injuries, home court advantage & nothing else to play for wore Duke down. Really cranked up the defensive intensity with the press and Duke didn't have the composure or intensity to respond.

Allen is tough to like. He plays hard and is very talented. Didn't see anything problematic on either side in the scuffle with Johnson. The hook on Deng was obvious & called correctly. Deng embellished the push off, but Allen extended his arms and ref caught him. Johnson was out of the protected area but was probably still moving when Allen made contact. That said, Allen was wildly out of control on the drive and that makes the call easier for the ref.

Snyder & Mitchell played very little during the big run. Allegations that Pitino would ditch Lee & Lewis to get started on next year's progress lack credible support.

Adel was very enthusiastic on both ends of the floor.

Nanu's improved passing on the interior is going to be critical next year. He can help himself by passing the ball which opens it up for him because they cannot collapse.

Johnson played as well as he has all year. Spalding had some key contributions in the 1st half. Coming along.

Looks like there will be no outright ACC Champ this year. Goal will be to share a piece of that championship since there is nothing after that. Need to play well. May come down to a very difficult finale at UVa to have that chance.

Adel looked like a total different player yesterday. I've been critical of his play this season and happly eat some crow..

Adel issue has been not getting on the floor and getting into the flow. Yesterday he was given a chance and show he has some ability. He will be fun to watch next 3 years.

I appreciate and agree with the vast majority of your analysis. Only thing I might point out is that I think there is a better than 50% chance Nanu isn't here next year, especially since this year's freshmen class is fairly weak across the board and that doesn't seem to be the case next year.

It will be interesting to see where NCAA investigation and Pitino stand at the declaration date for the NBA draft.

If no sanctions & Pitino is definitely staying (we won't know), Nanu would greatly improve his stock with another year at UofL.

If sanctions & Pitino gone, Nanu should go.

If Pitino is gone, lots of uncertainty and Nanu maybe goes. If Pitino is staying (at least by his choice), he would be well served to encourage Nanu to come back - for his and Nanu's sake.

Hard to tell how much of that is based on injury. Seemed like he was getting plenty of tim early in the season before the injury occurred.

The tournament ban absolutely sucks, but it's hard to not love them with they way they have continued to play. I truly believe that they had a hell of a shot in the tournament, which is the same for plenty of other teams. This tournament should be fun to watch for that reason alone, even as a Cards fan. There's definitely no clear cut team with an advantage this season IMO.

It's more of a rivalry than UK-Duke. At least there are regular games between the schools.

I agree with this. Yes, as a die hard U.K. Basketball fan I cannot stand Duke. A for a big UK/Duke rivalry there's not bc of the amount of times we play (not consistent). There was a stretch several years ago when UK / Duke seemed to play in the ncaa tourney every year (UK-Pitino / Smith yrs.) along with a regular season game or two in the mix. During that stretch it was a rivalry. Not so much now.
