Have to finish games. Have to.

The he score was 46-35 to start the fourth quarter. Harrison Lane nails a contested 3 in the corner to give Lafayette a 54-53 lead with 18 seconds left. Boyle calls timeout and Josiah Robbins drives in for the last shot and Elkins gets the rebound and is fouled on the putback with .5 on the clock. Elkins missed the first free throw. He is given the ball for the second free throws and the Lafayette coaches were screaming for a timeout. The referee blows his whistle while Colton has the ball signaling a timeout for Lafayette. Coach Adams is livid for them stopping play when Colton had the ball and the refs get the players back on the line and then Colton missed the second free throw. Ballgame.

.

Unfortunate. One of the two officials made a mistake. Either the official who granted the TO erred in granting it OR the official who administered the FT made a mistake by being too quick in giving the ball to Colton for his 2nd FT.

Its almost like once they get the lead in the 4th Quarter, nobody what's the ball and they seem to get nervous.

The baseline official bounced the ball to Elkins and he made his move to the line and then the official on the left side of the court blew his whistle. Only official to blame was the official that blew the whistle.

After the the last few games it was good to see the Rebels compete the way they did. They just need to finish games when they are in control of the game. It's win or go home time now so they better figure it out. Now.

Are you saying they called the TO and then decided to not have a TO?

The refs made them stay on the floor as they were heading to the bench. They realized the one ref made a mistake. Oh well, game over

20 turnovers for Boyle? Lordy.....

Turnovers of all kinds. Forced. Unforced. Silly. Careless. It has plagued us all season. If we have the ball for more than 30 seconds and don't get a shot then we'll probably turn it over. It's like they take protecting the ball for granted.

The refs gave the ball to Colton for his free throws at the same time the Lafayette bench was calling a timeout. Colton was beginning his free throw routine when one of the refs blew his whistle and signaled timeout for Lafayette. The other refs then said he already had the ball and a timeout can't be granted and they made everyone line up again for his second free throw.

Boyle ends the regular season with 8 losses in 9 games. Their only win, however, was over Danville, who they play in the district tournament next week.

I think the one who blew the whistle to grant the TO made the mistake. The Lafayette bench decided at the last second to use their last timeout to ice Colton. Either way they were still able to ice him as play was stopped and his rhythm was stopped.

That's the good news. You can throw everything out of the window when these two get together. It will be ugly then pretty then ugly, super intense and rowdy.

Boyle has last 8 of their last 9 and Danville has lost 5 of their last 8. Stupidity will ensue on Wednesday. Guaranteed.

No question. It could go either way and will probably be an incredible game. The weird thing about high school basketball...that's the only game that really matters.

Nothing else matters. Beat Danville.

Are you saying they called the TO and then decided to not have a TO?

No. They are saying the opposing team cannot call timeout once the ball has been given to the ft shooter.

It was perfect for Lafayette because the chaos that ensued was far more icing than if the timeout had actually been granted.

Bottom line, the officials made a horrible, uncorrectable error that had an impact on the outcome of the game. There is nothing I despise more than officials leaving their mark on the game.

By my count, Boyle has won 4 games in 2016
