Owen Co is 5-3 against Sweet 16 caliber teams (that includes Morgan Co, who is a contender in the 16th), and North Laurel, who is right behind South Laiurel in the 13th) As has now been mentioned, Owen's best win was over Henry Clay back in mid December.

The Henry Clay win was a good one, forgot about that one.

You are correct. Any high school team will have a weakness or two, even the best. South doesn't rebound particularly well, their quickness is also an issue. But they can knock down three-pointers like crazy. South could pull off some unexpected wins in the regional because of their outside shooting. That is why I can't wait for their game with Owen County coming up on the 13th. Two totally contrasting styles of play, both with strengths that offset the other's.

South Oldham is really good, their three-point shooting is best in the 8th Region. I think South is a little better overall than Oldham. Oldham has five solid players, but not quite as good as the kid for South who made about 10 threes in a game last week. I do not want to butcher his name, but he is really good when left open, and it doesn't matter if he's 30 feet out. You have to get on him, or it's a three!

This is exactly right. Oldham is clearly behind both Owen County and South Oldham. That is not to say Oldham CAN'T win the region, but it will take a great run by them to accomplish it.

South won heads up, but I think Oldham is the better team most nights. I have no problem putting Owen first, but's it's not as wide a margin as some others have them.

Nobody is ignoring a dang thing. I think Oldham is the better team on a given night. On that night they lost. Anderson beat South by 30 but I don't see BGP chomping at the bit to move them above South in the region rankings.

 

Take that up with the 8th Region Coordinator. You're the only Anderson County fan on here.

I haven't seen anyone say anything other than Owen County is the favorite. You're the one stressing over the margin and adjectives like prohibitive in front of favorite.

 

I don't expect Collins to win the region. Just using them as an example to clarify my point that regardless of who wins the 8th Region tournament those three are your favorites and the teams folks won't want to draw in the first round.

Maybe not a wide margin, Owen County is clearly the best team in the 8th Region as of today.

Also, didn't Owen County have a starter get injured at the All "A" state tourney? I heard he was out for the season. Anyone?
