Coach Fannin has been there a few years and is very dedicated to the program! I think the new coaches you guys are thinking about are Greg Preston who coached at Boyd County last year, and Mark Lewis who coached at Ironton for over 30 years. Both of them are bringing alot to the program! Clint Thompson is also an outstanding player and a great young man out side of football! He is also a leader!!!

Never heard of the Beech player...Is that the same player that used to be at Greenup?

You are correct about the coaches. They bring a lot into our program and should be a great addition to an already great staff. I think coach Fannin will be a head coach someday.

Yes, that would be him. He brings a lot of speed to an already quick team and is looking very good at this point.I think you will hear Grizzle to Beach for the Td called several times this year.

You are imo absolutely correct on the new coaches, especially Lewis who has coached 30 yrs. under the lengendary B. Lutz at Ironton. 30yrs. coaching with that man (Lutz) and he is bound to bring nothing but positives to the program.:thumb: GO RAMS! Lets tee it up and play some hard hitting Ram Football.:flame:

You are so right about learning from the legend. This can only be a plus. Let's hope we can get back to that "Orange Crush" defense that we used to have.

Congrats to Coach Vanderhoof once again. Great coach and person and glad to see Raceland in the position they are in this season.

NEW RUMOR, heard a rumor that Russell will pick up Raceland in 2007 during regular season, anyone heard this out there in Ramland. Just wondering if the dream is coming true.

I can't confirm the rumor, but I do know that Raceland has been trying to get this game scheduled on several occassions. This would be a great game for the Rams as it would be a nice gate ($) for the program and generate more community support. I hope it does happen, it would be a fun game for the fans and kids.

If Russell does decide to do this I would hope they do ONLY if Raceland agrees to play all the games at Russell just as they do when they play Ashland...If Raceland wants to alternate home fields I would not do it...It benefits both programs & the fans more to play at Russell due to the much larger facilities & better parking situation...The schools are only 4 miles apart so I see no real home field advantage...The fans will come...Lets accomodate everyone better by playing at the larger facility...(of course, this is all hypothetic at this point)

It’s good to hear that Raceland is doing so well. Good luck in every game except game 1.

Ashland did not look good Saturday. We have the makings of a very interesting opening game.

If you can get some grass to grow so they do not have to play in the usual mudhole we may consider your offer. One reason Raceland agrees to play at Putnam is that Raceland has so much respect for the Ashland program and what it stands for and Ashland has returned the same respect. The attendance factor also helps!!

Thanks for the compliment greybeard!! It is way to early to tell how well we are doing just as it is for your Tomcats. The scrimmage exposed some things we need to improve on. It could be a great season for the Rams but I think we must improve on defense. Time will tell.

Ashland had some bright spots in the scrimmage as well, and I thought were really tested by Campbell County. It was a tough first game scrimmage but I imagine the players were glad to see another color jersey after a hot summer camp. I hope it is a good game and that both teams represent well. I do wish your Tomcats well just not as well as our Rams. Good luck to both teams.

With all due respect d58, I would not be in favor of playing all games at Russell.I am like you (about alternating sites) that if all games were at Russell I wouldn't agree to play. Reason being I belive that the alternating home and home series in this game would be the only way to go.That is just my opinion and I know that Russell has a nice facility and plenty of parking. I just do nor want the Rams to run into a situation like they have this year with only 4 home games, if all games were held at Russell this problem could possibly surface for Raceland every other year. I know the school are very close in the 4 miles distance to each other and both schools fans would flock to this game no matter where it was held. I do not think that the location would be a factor as far as that goes. Really, I know that Raceland coaches Ross and now Vanderhoof have been trying to get this game worked out off and on for approx. 20 years or so. It would be good to renew the old rivalry but frankly it hasd been so long now without response or the game getting worked out I really don't care if the two play. I am not saying this for any reason other than I have heard about this possibility for so long it is kind of like beating a dead horse. The game would imo be good for both schools and I would like to see it, just tired of talking about it. That is not a "slam" or "cut" on anyones school or fans, jmo. As you said, this is all hypothetical. Good luck to Russell this year in your quest for another AA title.
