I have pondered this exact same thing. Every pundit and politician has assumed Trump will falter at some point. He probably thought the same. Now that it is becoming a possibility, what if this does come to fruition? Sarah Palin? Donald Trump Jr.? Ivanka? Last year's winner of Celebrity Apprentice?

Hey, there's an idea. You should pitch it to the networks, a reality program where he eliminates possible candidates to be VP. America gets the final vote.

I think the voter turn out will be the highest in recent elections. More to vote against one than for one.

Certainly much of the GOP turnout will be to vote against Hillary. We have yet to see, though, whether the GOP convention turns into a three-ring circus. If there is a brokered convention that denies Trump the nomination, then everything changes.

Probably correct on Trump. However, one issue some of the Democratic strategists are worried about is Hillary not moving the needle for the generally apathetic crowd that voted for Obama. It may not matter, but that is a legit concern.
I think this is the biggest issue for the Dems.

I agree. But thanks to Trump's anti-Hispanic comments, rallying that segment of American society just got a lot easier for the Democrats.

In '12, Romney won the white vote 59-39 -- by 20 points! -- yet still lost the Electoral College by a large margin and the popular vote by 5 million.

You think Crooked Cory would be a slamdunk? Can the Dems not find anyone to run that hasn't been under criminal investigation? Yeah I know his Vice Mayor took the rap for soliciting bribes to Booker's Charity...but come on man. And he didn't notice the corruption going on in his office or realize that his friends and family received millions of dollars of government contracts while he was the mayor.

So he's either a crook himself or inept in seeing corruption in his own office...I guess that makes him the perfect Democrat Candidate.

His draw would be similar to Trump's: political celebrity.

I didn't say he is the most deserving. IMO He would solidify minority vote and more than likely motivate hesitant voters to come to the polls and pull the dem lever who may think twice about Hillary.

Will he transform Republicans, no.

Sure, then you'd have both, those who are voting against Hillary and those who are voting for the R candidate.

You all continue to discount the Democratic crossover that hates both Hillary and Bernie, even more than Trump or any of the Republicans. This race wont be about Hispanics and Black voters per say, it will be about the direction of our country and where Hillary and Bernie would take it. Voters both Democratic and Republican are tired of Liberal agendas. Hear it everyday. And yeah its voters from Kentucky you say? Blah Blah Blah. No its from people all across America, that generally vote Democratic.

Maybe, but has of Right now, I'd guess way less than 20% of the population has ever heard his name or knows who he is...while he may be a celebrity to some, most as of now don't have a clue who he is.

The only democratic crossovers polls show are aiming for Bernie.

Like Sarah Palin in 2008.

I believe Romney got more white votes than any presidential candidate in history and he still lost the election.

Like Sarah Palin in 2008.

True, my point was that he wasn't a Political Celebrity of any Great Stature as was mentioned.

You're discounting the Republican voters who will vote for no one in November. If Trump wins, do you believe for a moment that Jeb Bush will tell his supporters to vote for Trump ... after the manner in which Trump has belittled Bush?

Bottom line: Based on the numbers in '12 that I cited, the best path to a GOP win is to be able to cut into the 70-30 Hispanic advantage that the Dems currently enjoy. Nominating Rubio would be the Republicans' best chance, but Marco thus far has not been able to climb past 11 percent in the polls.

I think this touches on an interesting aspect....If Trump somehow wins the nomination, will he have anyone of any substance that would join up as the VP nominee?

I think you can cross Cruz, Rubio, and Bush off the list.

Disagree. You forget that politics is showbiz for the ugly. Any one of those would probably gleefully eat a turd sandwich to be VP.
