I stopped by hc practice the other day thier fros looked pretty big!!!!!!!!

A that jv team looks very good

I saw some of the NewCath frosh, the don't look very big but they have speed. Campbell County has some big kids and they had the best turnout in years, 40+ kids.

Nothing like a little pressure:banana: . I'm just kidding, as they already have that pressure on them. They've been well "advised" by the two classes ahead of them that they better keep the streak going (actually the 3 classes ahead of them as the seniors, after starting 0-3, won their last 7 in a row). So they've won 27 in a row.

 

Birds should be pretty good again. They have the size, athletic ability and speed to go undefeated. I think their goal is to go unscored upon (which takes care of the unbeaten streak) for the whole season. That will be tough to accomplish but they may do it. I know all of their opponents will be gunning for them that's for sure.

 

Lots of good "names" on this years team desiring to continue the family tradition. There's a Roller (older brother plays varsity. Dad and uncles also played). There is a Bardo (has 3 cousins who played for the Birds and one still playing varsity. Has at least one uncle who played as did his grandfather). There's a Dierig (father played). There's a Rosenhagen (older brother played and cousin is playing). There's a Schlosser (older brother playing varsity; uncles, grandfather, cousins and father played). There's a Collinsworth (Dad played elsewhere, but did OK I guess; uncle played at Highlands and led the state in rushing and scoring his senior year; has a cousin on the frosh team). There's a Bankemper (who's father is Collinsworth's uncle and led the state in scoring and rushing). There's a Kidwell (who's brother plays for the varsity; has a step brother also on the frosh team). There's a Buten (brother plays varsity). There's a Beck (brother and uncle played). Heck there may be more players continuing the family tradition. I apologize if I left some out or left some of the family connections out for the players I mentioned. But there are a lot of deep Highlands roots in this group so they know what it takes. Plus there are other really good kids on the team working their tails off and wanting to start their own family tradition with the Birds on the right foot.

 

Will they go unscored upon and undefeated? I don't know. There very well could be a more talented, harder working group of freshmen at another N. Ky high school. It will be up to this group of freshmen to see if they can live up to the hype that they are already receiving. If they listen to the hype and don't work hard, I can assure them that the streak will be broken however.

Campbell County has 55 kids after starting with about 60 on the Freshman team. A great mix of size and speed. Some very very quick running backs. They were fun to watch at the intra-squad scrimmage Sat. JV. should be pretty good also. Good to see over a hundred kids(together) on the practice field.

Have you seen the Brown kid yet?????? WOW...He is built like a house. 6'0 240 that can flat out move..I think there is another kid last name Alford I believe..Very impressive!!!!!! :thumb: :thumb:

Yes I have seen them both. They are good. Only reason I didn't mention them is that I did not mention any players by name that did not have the family tradition connection. Did not intend to slight them or any of the other players I failed to mention by name. There are some other players that also are very good and will be needed by the Baby Birds to deliver.

 

And as I knew I would, I forgot someone. Tyler Fennell (whose father and uncles played and I think his grandfather did also. He has at least one cousin currently on varsity). Sorry about that Mouse. Didn't mean in any way to slight you. Come on Henry, who else did I forget?

I know 2yrs ago we had 33 fresh and I think around 40 last year at Dixie ! I know the numbers have been going up because of the strong feeder program's ! NKYFL and Turkeyfoot Mid. The new field may help out also !

That is a huge amount of bodies...if you have an offense that goes one way and a defense that does the same you still have 33 kids left. Then lets say you back up each position, still have 11 kids left. Talk about depth.....

Watched him pitch the last two innings for the "Hosea Hitmen" to help them win the Greater Cincy Knothole Championship tonight. A very talented boy which will be fun to watch in football this year. Glad he's a "BIRD"!:thumb:

Campbell has only been getting numbers in the twenties in recent years, so this is a huge increase.
