Beechwood battled hard. I believe they were down as many as 7 late in the 4th... maybe more. Scrapped and clawed to tie it with about 12 seconds to go. Then Holy Cross inbounds the ball to Houston and a beechwood player fouls him with Holy Cross in the double bonus. Houston makes both....ballgame. Felt really bad for the player that fouled in that situation. Coach probably should have called a time out as soon as they tied it to go over how to defend for the last 12 seconds. I guess the down side to using a time out there you give Holy Cross a chance to set something up. Tough call either way.

 

The player that committed the foul is a VERY good player and has a bright future. All he can do is learn from it and move on.

You are correct. Cov Cath 48 Walton Verona 40. With WV scoring 4 points in the final seconds as Cov Cath was just trying to run out the clock and not taking very good care of the ball.

I'm told this Walton class is also strong in football.

 

They are good in football also. However, they did lose two very good football and baseball players in between 8th grade and freshman year. Dylan Doverspike and Tyler Wagner both now attend Beechwood.

Curious aren't there a few other current Beechwood freshman who attended Kenton Co Middle Schools at some point? The Baugh twins and Johnson. I thought they looked familiar, Baugh's maybe at Twenhofel and Johnson at Summit View.

Karin, Stallman, and Fleek had 8 for CCH.

 

Coldiron had 6 and 6.

They did miss some free throws in the first quarter but after that I thought they were good from the line after that. Anyone have free throw stats for both teams?

Holding Grubbs and Miles to 9 each was huge. Stallman has been playing very good basketball. With the foul trouble Cov Cath was in he came in off the bench and did his job. This was a good TEAM win for Cov Cath.

JV Championship at 6 is New Cath vs CovCath. This game will be a battle. New Cath is the only team to beat Cov Cath this year.

 

Freshman Championship is at 730. Holy Cross vs Cov Cath. This will be a good game as well. Cov Cath won the regular season game by 8. Holy Cross led until late in the 4th.

When HC and CCH met for the tripleheader I nailed every game and was close on the scores. Today, I predict a good day for CCH. JV wins by 4 and Freshman (playing really good right now) by 11.
