January 25, 201610 yr The announcers mentioned that one Valpo player transferred in from LSU & another (soph PG) was a fairly high rated recruit from Montreal. I assume they're the favorite to win the Horizon League? Yes and they have perhaps the best mid-major player in American (Alec Peters)
January 25, 201610 yr Tough one for the Norse. Drew will probably just want to destroy the tape on this one. Rough game for him. Coach has this team playing a full forty. They didn't and won't ever quit.

January 25, 201610 yr Just know a little. Been to NCAA 9 years of last 19. In last four undrew Bryce Drew have been twice, once to NIT and once to CIT. Bryce was former Mr. Indiana Basketball in 94 and was the hero that beat Ole Miss in 98 NCAA (one of top 20 all time moments in NCAA history). He went on to play in NBA for six years. Understand his players love his program. Know Drew. What major city are they near?
January 25, 201610 yr Kid will play for pay soon. Peters & the point guard (Carter) were very impressive in 1st half, then in 2nd half their #11 was really good, a 6'7" kid playing point forward. As most have stated, Valpo represents the goal for NKU. NKU's Holland is a nice player. I've gone to 2 games thus far (Wright St & Valpo); McDonald has been overmatched. The Murray kid looks good walking on the floor, but disappears in the games. Billups does good things, but needs a fellow post player (taller) to play with.

He just struggles to get his shot off against some of the more athletic competition (see yesterday's game). Holland is very good. He'll do some pretty big things over the next two seasons IMO. McDonald is a bit overmatched against some teams with comparable size and athleticism (Wright St and Valpo are two of those teams), but for a freshman he's light years ahead of where anyone expected him to be. It's a process to build a program, and Holland and McDonald are two very nice pieces to start with IMO.
January 25, 201610 yr Just for conversation, what is it that would draw a recruit to Valpo over NKU if it came down to the two?(tradition, coaching, facilities, location,etc.). Don't know anything about Valpo. I would say brand recognition. Not only the school but he Drew family name.
January 25, 201610 yr I hate saying it, but state of Indiana has more D1 prospects than KY. Playing in-state is a factor for many. I'm sure proximity to Chicago doesnt hurt either.

Your basing your observations on games against the best 2 teams in the conference. No one expects NKU to come in and beat these 2 teams immediately. They handled a good Oakland team (took Mich ST. to overtime) last week, so it isn't as bleak as some make it out to be. Keep in mind Holland is a soph and McDonald a frosh.
