January 24, 201610 yr Yes. No one would stop the American Dream. You can certainly be fabulously wealthy if we returned to higher taxes. And when you are still running a deficit from spending like a drunken sailor after collecting those higher taxes, what then? Even higher taxes?
January 24, 201610 yr And when you are still running a deficit from spending like a drunken sailor after collecting those higher taxes, what then? Even higher taxes? Naturally. Did you ever doubt it?
January 24, 201610 yr Naturally. Did you ever doubt it? None of them (the Lefties) will answer the question, What happens when you run out of other peoples money?
January 24, 201610 yr Don't you think that it's a bit hypocritical that you reduce the amount you pay in taxes while wanting someone else to pay more? Wait let me guess, you're not wealthy so it's OK. Only the evil rich should pay more. FWIW in my opinion anyone who wants anyone else to pay more in taxes while doing ANYTHING to reduce the amount they pay, legal or not, is a hypocrite. What's your definition of wealthy? Who exactly should pay more? What is their fair share? I hear those terms thrown around by the left but no one ever defines them. What about people that have no skin in the game, so to speak? Shouldn't everyone that has an income pay income taxes? After all they get the benefits of any tax payer, shouldn't they have to help pay for it. That's the argument the left uses for compulsory union membership. I'm playing today's game just as the extremely wealthy are. Throughout history we have had readjustments. If you don't believe me look it up yourself. Our "greatest generation" made this country a super power with much higher tax rate on the wealthy. Some of you think our country has always operated willy-nilly like today. The drop in rates on rich, capital gains, and inheritance taxes has been only over the past 30 years. During that time we have created a growing group at the bottom and shrinking group at the top. That doesn't sound American to me. In fact, it resembles feudal England.
January 24, 201610 yr None of them (the Lefties) will answer the question, What happens when you run out of other peoples money? We will build a wall and kick Muslims out because it's their fault. :walk:

January 24, 201610 yr Hellcats I think he is waiting for a serious answer. We are out of money right now and that is one solution these days.
January 24, 201610 yr None of them (the Lefties) will answer the question, What happens when you run out of other peoples money? If the to keep getting richer, and the bottom keep getting poorer, and the middle keep getting pushed to the bottom, the top will have to up their share even more. As the top controls not only the majority of the wealth, but the economy as a whole and the political spectrum as well, their choice is help improve the situation for the bottom and bottom-middle now, keep jobs in the country, sacrifice some profits to improve the situation for the people they employee and depend upon to buy their goods and services now, or fully support a growing number later. Or, let people struggle into death...either way, no one will be buying their goods and services and eventually theor profits will dry up. But hey... at least they got to keep their money.
January 24, 201610 yr Then you are being a hypocrite. And please answer my question. If there is going to be an income tax then shouldn't anyone who has an income pay it? No, I'm following the tax code. As I expect the rich to do. I don't expect them to step up and voluntarily give their money away. I expect our politicians to step up and make the right decision. I'm missing your point on should people pay. It's pretty common knowledge a min wage worker's dollar is worth more to them than a billionaire and their dollar.

Politicians doing the right thin is an oxymoron so that leaves it up to you and like minded people to do the fight thing. Walk the walk And I believe that if there is going to be an income tax then anyone with a income should pay. No one should get a refund larger then what they have paid in.
January 24, 201610 yr Someone remind me. What was the highest U.S. federal income tax rate in history? Crickets.

Walk the walk And I believe that if there is going to be an income tax then anyone with a income should pay. No one should get a refund larger then what they have paid in. Nope they've done it before. They can do it now. If we can't expect them to do the right thing they don't need to be there. I do walk the walk. I pay my taxes. That is frustrating to you. Is it also frustrating to you that Warren Buffet and other billionaires pay a smaller tax rate than some of their middle class employees when they make middle class yearly salary in a minute?
January 24, 201610 yr Crickets. Yes they were much larger during a slow growth period. But the tax cut of 1981 and tax reform act of 1986 spurred one of the largest growth periods in our nation. Also if you want to play the game of tax rates were higher at one point. We didn't have a permanent income tax in this country until 1913. We saw great growth prior to that year through out our history. Guess what happened a few shorts years after the permanent income tax ? Great depression anyone ? Then some poor leadership thought the way to grow was to increase this new tax even more. Because like always when you give government a little they want it all. Luckily we had leaders later who had the insight that more money in the economy equals more growth and efficiency. It is impossible for the government to spend a dollar as efficiently as the individual .
