January 21, 201610 yr I think it's to ensure that they actually have someone face to face to talk to and to ask questions...not just watch a pre-recorded video, as I think some were doing. Then just make the requirement be a conversation. Simple. Questions get answered. Patient knows what is going to happen. She can then decide if she wants to proceed.

That's basically what they are doing..."face to face" or "conversation" you are splitting atoms. I think this is as much about holding the doctors responsible for doing their job and not just "Phoning it in" as informing the mothers.

I don't know, I've never been in one of those conversations. We all know that in today's world we are always multi-tasking when we are on the phone, maybe someone just thinks these women need undivided attention.

How is it about changing minds if the doctor performing the procedure is the one speaking with them? They evidently are already Pro-Abortion, takes money out of their pocket if they talk someone out of an abortion. Is talking someone into keeping a baby a bad thing?

It says health care provider - that doesn't necessarily mean the same doctor who is performing the abortion. KY already requires a woman to receive counseling from the state so this is just another obstacle. IMO, both counseling sessions are just government interfering with a woman's right to make her own decisions about her body. Talking someone into keeping their baby CAN be a bad thing if they are only agreeing out of face-to-face guilt and will not properly care for that baby or care for themselves while carrying that baby.

I wonder how many abortions are because they can't take care of a baby versus how many don't want to take care of a baby... Either way, if you really want to kill a baby will one, two or even three conversations talk you out of it?
January 22, 201610 yr I cannot believe people on here are against having to sit down and talk to your doctor a day before killing your baby. The nerve of people wanting to make sure you are totally informed before taking the irreversible decision of ending your baby's life. Even if you are for abortion rights, how can you be against having to talk to the doctor face to face before to make sure you REALLY WANT to do something that (1) will end a life and (2) will affect the mother the rest of her life as well.

Hopefully the intent is to have the Dr. actually have a conversation versus just saying they did. Interesting story, we had a case the other day where a Dr. actually sent a letter to a judge, stating a certain condition a litigant was suffering from, without actually seeing the patient until days after the letter was written and received. Hopefully, this bill is trying to keep this type of thing from happening.
