The mayor is ignorant! After the shooter said he did it because of his Islamic beliefs, and then the chief of police reiterated that comment, the mayor commented " no one in the room believed the shooting had anything to do with Islam." Dis'd his own chief of police!

Horrible when LEO can't even be safe. But, on your Mecca comment, all able bodied Muslims are required to make the pilgrimage at least once in their life. Where there things that could have been a part of this? SURE! Could he have met people over there? SURE! But the pilgrimage itself isn't too worrisome.

My earlier comment was thinking he was radicalized in his basement.

 

This Mecca visit changes that a little. Of course it doesn't mean all Mecca visitors are killers.

But in his case after what he said you have to move from his basement to the middle east.

I'm not disagreeing with the entire theory. I am sure when some "scouts" over there see that someone is from the U.S., they look at their characteristics to see if they can recruit them.
