Walter Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Elder is very big in the front court and extremely physical. Jags got killed on the boards but used their quickness to force turnovers down the stretch. McNeil gave Cooper the lead on 3 fts with 20 seconds left. Jags then got a turnover and younger brother Chris McNeil made 1 of 2 fts. Elder missed a 3 badly at the buzzer. Ball game. Nice win for Sully and his team.

MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Awesome win for the Jags!! @Cincy is on fire with his predictions....hope he likes the Bengals on Saturday. Congrats to Coach Sully and the Jags. Very cool win against a solid Cincy big-school club.
Walter Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I haven't seen CJ Fredrick yet but Adam Kunkel might be the best sophomore in NKY. Much better defensively than I expected. Came up with several big plays down the stretch and is so smooth offensively at all three levels. At the end of the day Sean McNeil was the best player on the floor. Scored 6 straight in the 3rd or 4th to erase a 6 point Cooper deficit then came up with all three fts when it mattered after being fouled on a 3 attempt. Cooper does a really good job fighting through screens defensively and defending away from the ball.
Lawnboy13 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Looking forward to seeing the Jags up on the "hill" on Thursday. :thumb:

I think that Kunkel had a great first half, he stepped up and kept Cooper close while Elder was focused on limiting the touches of S. McNeil, I think he only got off a few shots in the first half. Rohlman also chipped in some key early buckets in a spot start tonight. I thought that Sean also did a great job of not forcing things tonight, seemed to be a little frustrated with the officiating at times (I feel he had every right to be) but he stayed patient on offense and when the opportunity presented itself he impacted the outcome of the game. Good TEAM win for the Jags. I think everyone that stepped on the floor for them tonight made a BIG play during the game that led to them getting the win.
Guest Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Don't make me go there, I've had my hart broken by them Bengals too many times. Great win for Cooper, should give the a ton of confidence taking down one of the "name brands" in Ohio. In Price Hill tonight I'm sure they are saying "who the hell is Cooper?" They know now!

He has really improved with his left hand and finishing strong against contact. He has always been a great scorer - he is the type of of player who, once he makes one shot and sees the ball go through the net, can then go make 10 shots in a row. He has become a very good all-around player and will only get better. I really like how Sullivan develops players - they are very fundamentally sound and TOUGH. And I like how Sullivan builds teams - Cooper's chemistry is always exceptional. As good as McNeil and Kunkel are, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts for Cooper.

They both had a nice game but to your point, the whole is greater, and that is what got them the win tonight. Not to mention coach Sullivan working his butt off for all 32 minutes tonight.
Oldercoach Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Could be a new Sheriff in No. Ky. polls this week? A lock if Jags win on the hill on Thursday!
Samcro Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Great win for Cooper! Very impressive! They'll be a load to handle in March.
Clyde Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I haven't seen CJ Fredrick yet but Adam Kunkel might be the best sophomore in NKY. . He is certainly in the discussion. The class seems to be very promising as a whole.
Budman Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I would have to throw Chris McNeil in the conversation for the Class of 2018. He has done an amazing job running the show at Cooper. I have been very impressed with his game and think he has to be one of the top true point guards.
