They knew he would come with everything militarily we had. He had said as much.

I disagree. I think they fear the Arabs nations around them only. Obama America, Trump America, or any version of America doesn't bother them at all. Our involvement is a recruiting tool.

 

Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan and others undercut the message of ISIS by fighting them. The demise of ISIS will come when those other Muslim nations eradicate this radical thinking in their religion.

We've been waiting decades for moderate Muslims to take the fight to the extremist...it hasn't happened. Saudi Arabia plays both sides in all of these conflicts just hoping to be left alone, Jordan has tried but been rebuked, Iraq couldn't protect a 3rd graders milk money and Muslims around the world for the most part turn a blind eye.

 

I would be great if it happened as you say, that is what needs to happen. But I just don't see Muslim nations taking on Muslim extremist in any significant way.

Take a look at Pakistan's efforts against the Taliban since the school attack last year. Some of these countries just haven't been shocked into the realization of what their passivity has bought them. Maybe they will... and I shudder to think what that might take.
