How do you not know that you are 9 months pregnant?

PCOS is a condition that can also cause one to not realize they're pregnant. I'm glad that someone besides me knows these things. :lol2: I like Mrs. Blutarsky. :D

She's VERY likable!

In all seriousness, I am constantly amazed at how little even women know about women's health. I overheard a conversation the other day between 2 women that I work with, discussing a condition one of them was recently diagnosed with. The other lady was flatly calling the first a liar who was trying to get sympathy because "I'm a woman and I know all kinds of women, and I've never heard of that. You need to find a doctor who isn't a quack."

I worked with a woman years ago who didn't know she was pregnant until she went into labor and went to the hospital. She was a rather large woman so I understood not noticing any additional weight gain. She had abnormal periods which also disguised the pregnancy. The baby wasn't very active either. It happens.

I know of a few people that have actually lost weight while they were pregnant.

As others have mentioned, I'd say it's very rare, and most cases are bull, but there are legitimate instances of this occurring.

I don't mean this disrespectfully, but these are normally in cases where the female is overweight and unhealthy. With the running metabolism one's weight may only go up a few pounds to none at all and as lawildcat said, abnormal periods may not be much of a symptom.

I'm still hoping with all my weight gain over the years that I'm 108 months pregnant.

That's going to be one hell of a delivery. Better get 2 epidurals!

No way. Cesarean, for sure!

On a related note, I was in line at a store recently, where two women were discussing some fairly disturbing symptoms that one of the two of them was having.

"I don't want to go to the doctor, because they'll just find something wrong."

"Yeah, that's true."

I literally smacked my forehead in disbelief. Yeah, if you don't go, then there won't be anything wrong with you.

I've heard several of these "didn't know I was pregnant" stories over time. There's just no way that is true. Zero percent chance I'd ever believe such a story. The baby didn't move AT ALL? Come on now.

Agreed.
