I had forgot about Leahy. How long was he there? Did Joe Morris replace him?

No it was in 1998 when we played them. Then in 99 Middleboro moved up to 2a. Look at the schedule in the original post and you will see that breathitt clearly played them the 1st game of the season. In 99 branham and wynn were gone but they still have skidmore. Also Moore was not qb in 99 he had graduated and Allen Sperry was qb.

 

I remember Boyle beating them in '99 in AA semifinals. Figured they must have returned some of that team to do well again the next year.

Leahy was there 6 seasons. Joe Morris was his replacement.

Watched the video...no shame in losing to that team.

When Wynn kicked the ball, it sounded like no other kicker.

They returned skidmore the qb, one of the rbs I think and most of their line. Their defense was not near as good as 98 but skidmore ran that veer option better than anyone I saw

Floyd Branham was a great player and a great team captain that lead by example. He was 6'4" and 217 pounds of explosiveness. He was a very vocal on the sidelines and had no problem getting in your face. We got lucky when him and Wynn transferred in.

Where did they come from? Bell?

They both only played 2 years at Middlesboro. . Wynn came from Michigan and Branham came from Texas

The 1998 Middlesboro Yellowjackets was one of the best football teams in EKY in the last 20 years, and one of the best Class A teams I ever watched play. They were 14-1 and outscored their opponents 703-171. That defense was nasty.

As an aside, what has happened to Middlesboro's program. They seem to have fallen off quite a bit.
