How was his overall record with the JV? I only saw them a few times the last couple of years.

During the 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 seasons Coach Simms was Pendleton's Freshman coach while assisting the JV and Varsity teams.

 

During the 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons Coach Simms was Pendleton's JV coach while assisting the Varsity team.

 

In 2005-2006, he was the top assistant while Brad Cox was the JV coach.

 

Not sure about his two year freshman stint, but am sure that they were .500 during the 03-04 season and 19-3 during the 04-05 JV season.

Woody Crum had some success while at Pendleton Co. and his assistant was Mike Appleman who later coached at Rockcastle Co. (boys), Augusta (girls--1 season) Bracken Co. (girls) Henry Co. (boys), and Spencer Co. (boys). I am pretty sure that he had a great deal of success while in Ohio for a stint before returning to KY. The great Talbert Turner played for both Crum and Appleman, scoring over 3,000 points w/out the 3-pt. line!

 

Phillip Wood in his first stint as HC took the PCHS Wildcats to 2 state tournaments! A very fine basketball coach!

PC had a tough team in 97' when TJ's brother, Dave, blew out his knee while scoring 53 points. They also lost Josh Chaplin who was about 6'5" that year to a knee injury and he was there 6 or 7 man.

We (WFTM) had an interview with Coach Simms also. He has been named head coach.

Congrats to Coach Simms and wishing him all the best. I know he will do a GREAT job helping this young men become great young men.

Believe it or not at one time Simms threw in his name for the coaching position at Deming, but I quess someone told him to hold on and wait for this.

Not true, he was contacted by Deming but informed them he was happy at Pendleton.

Simms should do a great job at PCHS and I wish him NOTHING but the very best!

 

Jamey Johnson was pretty much the front-runner at Deming from the moment Coach Aaron Massey resigned. I think both schools did well for their respective programs!
