Chad Simms deserves the head coaching job @ PC and I think Coach Biggs would tell you the same thing.........He's dedicated and gives 110% to the kids and the game..........If Pendleton hasn't made it a done deal, then they should..........I saw someone on another thread saying Coach Simms doesn't have the experience as a head coach, but if you think about it, no coach would every have any experience if they weren't given the chance to become a head coach.......Bottom line, every coach out there is an assistant before they become a head coach........Coach Simms will do a great job!!

I hope that Coach Simms is given the opportunity. He is a high quality young man with good basketball knowledge.

 

I hope he is not only given the opportunity but the Wildcat faithful do not compare his tenure with Coach Biggs. No 6'8" guard type players in the system (Keaton Belcher), nor any transfers are on the horizon of the quality of Pat Elliott and Jon Elrod. Coach Simms will have success but the pieces on the chessboard are much different.

 

 

About five years ago PC had an incredible amount of talent come through the school. In 96' and 97' they had a lot of talent come through the school. They had some players who weren't dedicated like the players of the past few years in the nineties, but recently they had Appleman as the coach and he was horrible.

Lonnie Miller was 6'6", Danny Showberg (Sp) was 6'4" maybe, Andrew Gosney was 6'4" ish, Justin Feeback is 6'2" and Joey Allen was 6'2". Plus they had Brad Cox on the team and he was a very good shooter (and dresser). All of those kids came in a 2-4 year span and IMO were good enough to compete in the region if they had been well coached. Maybe someone can fill in some blanks for me, but they have had some very talented teams over the years that people outside of PC never realized. If Appleman hadn't coached that team and Biggs had they would have been top 2 or 3 in the region for sure.

That Brad Cox is well dressed? Everyone agrees.... Have they had a lot of talent that didn't achieve the way it could have under better/different coaching? I'd (and you would) agree that they did.

Simms has already been named HC at PCHS and I expect he will do a very good job there. The younger classes at PCHS have a wealth of talent and it may be a wonderful opportunity for Simms to do some big things early in his head-coaching career!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't he the JV coach the last couple of years? Is this official?

Yes, Chad Simms was the JV coach and assistant under Coach Biggs for the last few seasons. He is a graduate of Mason Co. and NKU and he may have even worked at Mason Co. for a short while, not 100% for sure about that.

How was his overall record with the JV? I only saw them a few times the last couple of years.

I honestly do not know what their actual record was. I just know talk in that area is that they MAY be down for a year to 3 years before the talent picks back up, just what I have heard. I do know they have some very good YOUNG prospects in their middle school system. I guess that drop off could be lessened by what Simms is able to do as a coach, he is very young and this is his first stint as the Big Man on Campus, let's see how he responds? I heard another 10th region school had pursued him or was going to before he took the spot at PCHS, so people think he can get the job done obviously!

Biggs came from outside. Reitz (CCHS) was there 2 weeks and left before him. Toim Appleman was there 2 years prior to that and he was hired from the inside. Before him was Lee Kendall from Harrison County and I believe Willie Feldhaus was before him. Chad Simms makes the second hire from inside the school district in the last 20 years or so. I may have missed someone.
