Track the Reds (Second Half)

Featured Replies

The reds are averaging just 1 run per game less than they were before the trade. If Griffey and Dunn don't pick it up they need to be moved down or to the bench. The Dodgers were not pitching around any of them. How many times did Dunn strike out in a row?If Griffey does not stop trying to hit every pitch out of the park he will be terrible the rest of the year. They talk about being in it and what they have to do but they don't want to do the work necessary to get the job done. They will get paid anyway.

How do you know they're not doing the necessary work?

I truly do not believe that's what the trade was about. It may be a benefit but it was not the impetus. I'd say a 7+ bullpen ERA was the impetus.

If money wasn't a factor than it was the worst trade ever.

I said it was a factor. However, the Reds #1 issue was not moving salary. It was getting better bullpen help. LP loved Kearns and Lopez and had to have them in the deal.

My crystal ball says that had the Reds pitching been in strong shape, both of those players are still Reds.

There number 1 factor in the trade was, we don't want to pay these guys 6 million a piece so we better get something for them. Our bull pen needs help, lets address the issue and try to convince the general fan base that this isn't a salary dump.

Come on. I'm calling shenanigans (bugatti 2002)...

And our bullpen ERA is down a whole run too.

I know I just dont want him to no matter what. Can't they DFA him or will they have to pay his whole contract?

My guess, is the Reds hopes he has a good game and someone will take him off waivers....:sssh:

Interesting, that Dunn is sitting....regardless of whom is pitching.

And our bullpen ERA is down a whole run too.

Since the trade, runs are down .8 per game and runs give up are down .7.

Its early. Lets hope the net result gets back to the positive side by a fairly substantial margin.

The only bright spot, of the recent Reds play....is the Cardinals, have been equally inept.

Shockingly inept. Fortunately, they don't give "style" points.
