Steve Bertram is doing play by play for the LexCath/Belfry game right now, and he did the Male/Lafayette game last night. He is really good. All you Boyle people are lucky to have him.

Anyone care to share any stories about Steve?

And for everyone from Boyle County, you should buy Steve's lunch next time you see him.

I love small town radio.

I like his voice and demeanor.

The Ransdell crew is my favorite..but these guys are solid. The 1A Crew was not my cup of tea.

Steve is one of the best friends I have in this world. Been there for me in every high and low of my life since 1981. Worked with him for ten years in radio. Some of the best years of my life.

Everybody loves Steve in these parts. We all know his voice and it is always a welcome sound when listening to a Boyle County game.

I'd buy his lunch but I don't know what he looks like. I'll have to listen to him place his order and then I can buy it. I know that voice anywhere.

You need to buy Steve lunch and thank him from all of us.

Stories? Can't tell them all or you would suspend me. :thumb:

1987 AA title game. I'm on sideline, Steve is in the booth. Ads bloc EP in Overtime to win. I'm making my way to locker room for post game and Steve yells in my ear: That's the game ball on the 20 Hatz! Pick it up n stash it. It's hard walking in the middle of the field looking normal and just picking up the ball. Steve gave Duffy the ball the next morning at the coaches show.

1986. Returning from Belfry and a major disappointment with the Ads. Coming off one of those Pike County Mtns, Steve says, "Buckle up Hatz we are going airborne ."

I told him no thanks. I want to be thrown clear of this wreck.

Steve is in the State Broadcasting Hall of Fame. The consummate professional. Couldn't ask for a better friend.

You need to buy Steve lunch and thank him from all of us.

I usually do when I get to go home. He always claims to be short on cash. :lol2:

He works in radio, of course he is short on cash.

Best memory is his rendition of the super bowl shuffle for Danville in 87... Would love to hear that again

His voice on the radio is awesome. My dad said they call him BIG Daddy Bertram lol

I was backing vocals on that. He created another one in '89.

Big Daddy.

Ski.

Sasquatch.

Steve is one of the best and we're very lucky to have him I use to take my radio and ear phones to the game so I could hear him do play by play.

Steve Bertram has called games for multiple generations at Boyle. Called my games in the 80's and calls my sons games now. Pretty cool stuff.

I think I remember Steve getting the job as the voice of the Lexington Legends their first season. He did call all of my games from 79-81 at Boyle.
