And the NCC faithful talk about the soccer threads being entertaining? Wow, just think there are 30+ more games to go.

I believe Carson Newman is a DII School. Big Difference.

No, some 2nd half points.

I would say it was a numbers thing. 3 of the 6 JV players dressed varsity, and at least 3 varsity players are on the football team. Thus 2nd half minutes for the starting 5. Also, they don't play again until Saturday vs. LexCath........so I would assume that is way they worked on their press.

Big KUDOS to the Dayton staff and players, they did not stop coaching and playing hard. I was impressed how they handled things.

I really like Dayton's coach. He is trying very hard to build a program from the ground up. They may never be regional contenders but he is working hard to do things the right way.

Should have at least given the dude some props. Billy Rogg is Dayton's head coach.

Just curious will there be expletives blurted from the stands this hoops season as were during the football games?

I got my popcorn and it's buttered up really nice. Proceed....

I missed the over/under 1 game

Is Brennan Hall getting D 1 looks?

Kid can play. MTGL and I were talking recently about NKY's sophomore class being so good and I said Brennan Hall is way up that list.

Just like I don't root against Simon Kenton or bash any of their players due to an overzealous poster I am not going to discredit the kid's game due to a poster.

New Cath certainly didnt let up at any point in the game, at least as far as their press is concerned. I'm not sure if they were trying to further humiliate Dayton or just simply "practicing". I will assume the latter. It was stifling, especially after Dayton's starting PG went out early. Dayton actually has a few really good players, but no size and no depth. Hard for me to judge how good New Cath is, although the big kid had a couple of nasty dunks.

Agree.

Dayton has some really good coaches in it's Athletic program. If you read my post in the Softball Forum, I have sung the praises of Head Coach, Beth Fields-Hunt countless times. No matter the score/outcome, her teams ALWAYS give 100% and maintain a positive demeanor.

You raise an interesting dilemma for a coach early in the season. They want to work on their press as much as possible but they also have to take "decency" into consideration. Not always a clear line.

I agree clyde. Although I admit to an irrational dislike of NCC, I will give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.

I'm guessing the second 5 at NCC would give a better challenge than what they saw last night. The defense would know what the offense is running and vice versa.

Good point.

Dayton put up 17 points in the second stanza. I'm sure Coach Dawn peeled some locker room paint at halftime. I have no problem with starters playing in the third period, or if they were pressing.

Newcath has never been known to run the score up... But they have been known to keep the starters in late into a game. I have no problem with Coach Dawns tactics in this first game.
