Who do you think wins and why?

I'm not really sure what Simon Kenton has or what to expect from the inexperienced Royals in their first road game at a 6A school. Hopefully I'll be making the trip to watch.

After watching the Royals play last night I'm very impressed. I think this year's team is very talented defensively and that's where they get an edge in a lot of games this season.

SK has some great size and won both of their scrimmages plus will probably have some football players on the roster now.

Haven't seen MC play yet but liked what I've seen out of SK so far. Should be a good match up.

If Pig Williams steps up as a consistent leader this year, MC will be good. I doubt Simon Kenton will hold up through the entire game, I see MC squeaking by a good SK team.

SK will hold up just fine. They have to quality point guards in 6'6 Hawkins and 6'0 Kitchens.

Didn't get to see the scrimmage between PC and SK, but I know that in talking to Keaton Belcher that he spoke highly of the 'Neers size. Should be a good early test for both teams.

So would you expect them to play a zone defense since they have size to pack the inside and keep Williams, Garrison, and Dunnaway out of the lane? Or would they go man to man and take their chances with them off the dribble?

 

If Mason isn't connecting from the 3 point line it isn't very difficult to defend them, but if they are they can be really good at times and a good team in transition. Hopefully I'll be in attendance Friday night.

I like Simon Kenton in this one. I'm not aware of anyone on Mason's roster that can contain 6'6 JC Hawkins.

I think this one will be a pretty close game. The Mason line up is very small and they start 3 guards all right at or under 6ft which could definitely hurt them in the half court sets, but they are all extremely athletic. Mason is also hurting from the depth with 4 players out for about 3 more games, 2 players that will see significant playing time. With that being said, once they get these players back and the chemistry working Mason can be a surprising team and compete in the 10th. If Mason can keep the game at a fast pace and get out in transition I'll take them, but if SK can keep the game slowed and in the half court sets I see them taking it. It will be a good early season test for 2 teams trying to find out what they have for later in the season.
