Highlands announcers calling Highlands Defense out for not wrapping up...

Featured Replies

when they tackle.

They were talking about how they were taught to tackle vs. what they see today. If was a strong indictment of Highlands defense.

They also said Pulaski underestimated Highlands.

And they were also speaking about what they read here on BGP without naming BGP.

Who are the announcers?

They are pretty good, but they are also a little passive-aggressive in their style.

Brad Fennell and Troy Kramer. I don't know Troy but Brad is a 1982 HHS grad. Played football but by no means a star. I think they are off their game today...usually better. Just not doing the basics as well...giving time, down and distance, etc...

I think when HHS got off to the fast start, they were thinking the PC is over-rated. Now that PC is moving the ball at will and Riley Hall is doing very well, they are blaming the D. Both teams have to be exhausted...sounds like a track meet with both teams in hurry up all the time.

The blame game on the D and the underestimated comments were both right near the end of the half.

They are pretty good for obvious homers, I will give them that.

Nothing like some ruffled bluebird feathers. Always makes me smile. :D

And I definitely underestimated Highlands. I expected it to be close but I didn't expect Highlands to be up 14 at the half and pretty much doing whatever they want on offense.

Hergott is a TOTALLY different player now compared to earlier in the year...

Putting Hebel in the backfield to block has really helped the running game too...kid just pancakes people...

Are Pulaski people calling the game?

Are either of these guys your friends or is this some other game?

Sometimes announcers get a little too involved in the game. Having been there and done that, it is easy to do. But I think you have to be honest, if you say they are playing well all the time, you tend to lose credibility. Without the dark you don't know about the light. As an announcer you DO have to be careful and not cross the line.

Both are friends, and heck yeah they are homers. Aren't 99% in high school homers? It's part of it. Just like on Sirius radio on Sunday's. There will be a homer channel for the Bengals, one for the Rams, and then a network channel for those that want to hear the unbiased. Is what it is!

Same comments on the tackling have been around for a while.

I'm not sure how the comments regarding the tackling today are "a strong indictment of Highlands defense", or that the comments are anything more than a simple observation.

As for them being homers: 1) those are the most unbiased homers I have ever heard, and 2) why shouldn't they be homers? They are Highlands alum, running a broadcast intended for highlands followers, so is it really all that surprising that they may lean slightly towards favoring Highlands in their broadcast?

I think this thread was a stretch.

Troy Kramer went to Campbell County but he's put a few kids through HHS.

Then it was Fennell talking about how he was coached back in the day at Highlands vs. what he is seeing today from the Highlands defense.
