Matt Jones not running for Congress in 2016

Featured Replies

But after much consideration, I have decided not to pursue any office in 2016. The decision is more personal than it is political. Were I to have entered the race, it would have been winnable and a chance for me to put forth a platform that I think is desperately needed in this fractured political landscape. While I think now more than ever, a person who is willing to put aside political affiliations in order to actually work for the common good is needed, it just isn’t the right time in my life to do it. I am extremely proud of what we have built here at KSR and the amazing opportunity I get to have as a part of it daily. Every day I get a chance to get up, work with friends I love and try to entertain thousands of people about a topic we all share. The reality is that as of now, I cannot say I am ready to completely give it up.

In the linked article, he goes on to say that he likely will run for some office in the future. Says his desire to enter the political realm is strong.

I'm not surprised at all. I think it would have been foolish to walk away from KSR, especially as long as Cal is at UK.

I am just the opposite. I really thought he would run.

I thought that he would, but glad that he didn't.

I wish he would have taken my advice and made the announcement by sitting behind a table with a Congressional Cap and a KSR Visor and then selecting a KSR Visor and putting it on instead of just announcing it the way he did...at least I got $10 Wendys card out of giving him that suggestion even if he didn't use it!

I'm not sure how much money he pulls in annually from running KSR, but it would be hard from me to walk away from doing something you love and getting paid for it. Combined with being close to the program, going to all the games and events. Maybe that would get old at some point or you grow out of it, I don't know.

I could think of a lot of worse things to do for a living.

If he had to decide a month ago he would have. Then he realized how dirty politics are when people started digging up dirt on him. Factor that in and leaving during Cal that's tough. Also, the pay cut would have hurt lol.

What kind of dirt do people have on Jones?

What kind of dirt do people have on Jones?

I don't know that they do, but supposedly there was a camera crew in Chicago last week interviewing Cat fans and asking if they knew any dirt on him or had any bad opinions of him.

If u have dirt it will be found if you get into politics or date tge wrong woman. Lol

I said from the start him spotlighting being a Democrat in Kentucky would only hurt his brand. From a money standpoint it didn't make sense.

I would say that he has too much fun with KSR, why change if you are having fun and making a decent living? He is young enough to run for office in the future.

If I were campaigning against him I would have played the fact that he over and over talked about loving living in Louisville and that he only moved into the district (out of Louisville) for political reasons.

That said I think some Card fans would have raised crazy money to help him get elected just to get him off of the radio :lol2:

50% pay cut was tough as well.
