MentschTrachtGottLacht Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Thanks for all the updates, bjknku02! I 2nd that. Thanks for keeping us all in the know.
colonel-fan Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 This was 14-7 going into the 4th. Not the blowout some posters were predicting.
Basement Barbers Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Love the Blue Colonels.... but you guys really have to work on your updates. The vague..est posts EVER. Great win though.
gchs_uk9 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 This was 14-7 going into the 4th. Not the blowout some posters were predicting. Southern really improved as the season went along. First district title in school history. Solid playoff performance against a good opponent. Congratulations to the Eagles. Also, congrats to Covington Catholic. Better team won, obviously.
ThrillVille Cardinal51 Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 This was 14-7 going into the 4th. Not the blowout some posters were predicting. True story and I won't dispute. Without all of the stupid mistakes, the score would have been 42-0. Granted, MS caused those stupid mistakes...

Southern did what they needed to do to hang around and have a shot at the W. I was giving a subtle jab to fellow CovCath fans who too often predict easy wins without much information on opponents.

You were exactly right.
colonel-fan Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 From the Richmond Register: Eagles defense shines, but CovCath moves into regional final with 28-7 win BEREA — Madison Southern’s offense couldn’t get much of anything going Friday against Covington Catholic. But, a heroic effort by the defense gave the Eagles a chance to move on in the Class 5A Playoffs. Southern came up with three big fourth-down stops and also forced two turnovers. Still, the Colonels had too much firepower and were able to pull away late for a 28-7 road win. Covington Catholic (5-7) scored twice in the fourth quarter to set up a showdown with Highlands next week in the regional championship game. Southern finishes the season with a 5-6 record. “We were in this game down to the wire,” Southern coach Jon Clark said. “This team showed today what they’ve shown all year. They don’t stop. They don’t give up. They never quit. This is a fighting group. This is a special group.”
