Pulling for scott, but think Ashland gets this one.

No way. I've seen strategies like that backfire. If you're going to play them, start them. If things get sideways, it can be hard to change momentum. And Scott is good enough, and has enough playmakers to make that happen.

 

Scott may be the underdog, but if you think you can easily beat them while giving your best guys the night off, you'd be playing a dangerous game.

 

The thing is though, if Rowan was able to run the ball against Scott, Ashland would be able to do the same even if Baker doesn't play. O'Bryan (there ya go spindoc, lol) is great, but Ashlands defense as a whole is too. Ashlands only issue at times on defense is defending the pass, which isn't Scott's strong suit.

They are also excellent at stopping the run and running the ball as well, even without the states beat back in the game. Kurtlen Brown at RB would likely be getting looks from D1 schools if he weren't playing behind Baker, he may still end up going D1 at that.

Physically, I think Scott is a little bigger than Ashland, and Ashland didn't look great against Tate Creek without Baker. If Scott can control the ball and play keep away, they'll have a chance. And while Scott doesn't throw much, they are efficient when they do completing over 60% of their passes, and averaging 14 yards per completion.

 

I've seen teams burnt by trying to get away with resting kids. In a one and done, you can't play for tomorrow. The most important game is the one you're playing today. Scott is good enough to keep it close, especially if Baker doesn't play.

 

If this is a blowout, I think Scott loses. If it's a close game, I think there's a good chance Scott wins.

Will their be a lot of fan support their for Scott? What type of playing surface does your school have? Figure Ashland will travel pretty well. I'm as of now going to attend the game. What about stadium itself? Bleachers? Good place to watch a game, concessions etc.

Brand new facility, field turf in its 5th year of use. One of the nicer facilities in NKY. There are bleachers on the visitors side, not huge though, but will accommodate a good crowd.

Against Harrison they ran the ball. Terrible weather that night - it was almost impossible to pass the ball.

Don't disagree with you assessment but I still say you sit them out if healthy until you see how the game is going. Very dangerous thing to do. Will shall see Friday how healthy they are and what Love decides to do. I'm pretty sure O'BYRAN won't be 100%. Not sure about Baker yet.

The concept of sitting players for round 3 is beyond laughable. Go Scott Eagles....have been impressed since week one!

I'm not assuming Ashland is good enough to beat them without those two players, but I think they can. What I'm getting really getting at is if they are not 100% why would you risk further or another injury to two kids that have a college career waiting on them? I hate it when kids are allowed to play when they aren't ready, because your putting their health and future on the line. After all it's just one game. If they sit out and Ashland loses, I would still be proud of this team. But if they play and suffer another injury die tobnot being ready, I would be pretty upset with whoever made the call to let them play.
