How about the Colonels? 2014 State Basketball Champs (1 class), 2015 State Basketball Final 4 (1 class), and 2015 State Soccer finalist (1 class). Crazy run. Massie is racking up a lot of jewelery -- so happy for that kid.

Covington Catholic tops Fern Creek in state semifinals

 

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Griffin Lamb had two goals and an assist to lead the Covington Catholic High School boys soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Fern Creek on Wednesday in a semifinal of the state tournament at Paul Dunbar.

 

Jacob Litzler, Michael Wessels and Cameron Berling also scored for No. 5-ranked Covington Catholic (23-2-2), which will face either No. 1 Bowling Green or No. 3 Henry Clay in Saturday’s 5 p.m. state final.

 

It was a dominant performance for Covington Catholic, which outshot Fern Creek 34-8.

FC got their first shot in the 33rd minute.

Just got back from Lexington a few minutes ago...it was my pleasure to watch the Colonels play.

CovCath continues to surge, 5-0

 

 

LEXINGTON – Jeremy Robertson has been touting the balance of his Covington Catholic soccer team all season and has enjoyed watching the Colonels approach milestones.

 

After a dominant performance in all phases of the game Wednesday night, the Colonels matched or tied several team records, and are one win away from the biggest milestone in team history: a first-ever state championship.

 

CovCath (23-2-2) defeated Fern Creek (20-5-1) 5-0 in the state semifinals at Paul Laurence Dunbar High School. The Colonels will play either Bowling Green or Henry Clay in the state finals at 5 p.m. on Saturday, also at Dunbar.

 

"It's an amazing feeling," CovCath junior Griffin Lamb said. "A 5-0 win in a state semifinal really pumps you up for the state final. We've been saying since the beginning of the season that we're going to make history, and we're really determined to do that."

CONGRATS to the boys from Park Hills, one more win to go.

The Colonels got done last night what they had to do but it wasn't pretty. I'm hoping it was Trinity hangover more than anything but they were not as sharp as I'd hoped they would be offensively. The effort, focus and execution will need to be much better on Saturday for them to get to where they want to be but congrats to the boys for reaching the final two.
