Covington Catholic 5 Fern Creek 0

Featured Replies

Fern Creek was simply outmatched. They had several nice players -- Teasley would be an asset to any team, I would think - but the drop off top to bottom on Fern Creek was huge. They played several sophomores and a freshman (#3) who was simply playing way over his weight class. CCH defense was outstanding again, making Hilliard for the most part look just average.

I thought it was a big improvement to have Day (and Wessels less frequently) play balls forward and follow with vertical runs to receive the ball back on quick lay-offs (on the times it was released). That is the type if quick movement and exchanges that I would think is required to break down Henry Clay. There was success against Fern Creek with balls being played to forwards who hung on to it and beat defenders on the dribble. I don't see that working so much against Henry Clay. Probably a case of you take what's given to get you into the back of the net on a particular night and move on.

That's great! Congrats to the Colonels and good luck in the finals.

To Fern Creek's credit......even though (as mentioned), they may not have been as talented as CCH top to bottom, they did still tried to play the possession/pass style of play, instead of converting to the run and gun style........shows me that the program is in good hands and learning and developing correctly......

The Colonels got done last night what they had to do but it wasn't pretty. I'm hoping it was Trinity hangover more than anything but they were not as sharp as I'd hoped they would be offensively. The effort, focus and execution will need to be much better on Saturday for them to get to where they want to be but congrats to the boys for reaching the final two.

Sheesh man. They are in the FINALS! And if they win on Saturday in an ugly fashion, I'm sure it won't be good enough. Good grief.

How do you know GP is a "man." Could be a very demanding Mother........

I could also be the Bruce Jenner of soccer, a little bit of both. ;)

Haha true. I meant man more in a general sense. But you got a point!

If OTB says something about the ladies, and Mrs OTB is not there.... does she still hear it?

She has special powers so yes, she does.

Only two more days until the final. Go Colonels!
