Wouldn't change anything for me. Boyle County wins state when they have more talent than the other team. Not when they have extra scrimmages. Not one person can name a time Boyle County has won state when they have had less talent than everyone else in their class. Boyle County has had some great coaches and I include Chris Pardue in that statement. The fact of the matter is that having more talent than the other team across the field means way way more than some alleged illegal scrimmages taking place in obscure locations.

 

Like some extra scrimmages would have helped out Highlands this season.

Nothing would change for me. All four of the schools you mentioned have had coaches who made their mark in KY high school football history. Scrimmages or not. The work they did to either build or sustain the tradition of success at those schools goes far and behind scrimmages. I get it if people want to call them cheaters but the scrimmages have a minimal effect on their overall success IMO.

Technically they would be cheating/cheaters but to me this is akin to doing 65 mph when the speed limit is 55. It would take a lot more than illegal scrimmaging for me to feel their legacies are tarnished.

No argument there. I agree with you or whole post. It doesn't matter who does it but I wouldn't think less of anyone who did.

I still say you push the season back to starting week 1 for all and do away with week zero. Then you could allow 2 scrimmages in August to better prepare all teams. You could still play 11 weeks and Thanksgiving weekend would be for regional finals.

 

When stuff comes out about scrimmages at camps, I am not sure that people really know what that really means... We aren't talking about ONE extra scrimmage. Most of the teams that do this kind of stuff are scrimmaging every evening at camp, often against multiple teams. So, in effect, you are sometimes talking about the equivalent of 3 or 4 extra scrimmages, if not more.

Purple pride you have no earthly idea about football, go cheer for hoops. EXTRA scrimmages are a vast advantage and yes there might be a team mentioned on here that has won state titles that has done this for years.

Ask around Boyle County and see if the kids went to camp this year. If they say yes then the scrimmaged. Trust me Chuck Smith does it as well. Sorry to disappoint.

Again, I never claimed to know about football. All I know is that of all the teams mentioned on here that have scrimmaged this year not a single one will win a state championship this season. Not a single one. Some vast advantage......
