3A playoffs

Is 3A set or do we have to wait on the last games for any ties?

Shew, I am not sure what happens. Looks like they is a bunch of tyes in this division.

How do they settle them? They should use the rankings of each team to figure it out.

District 3 - 2nd place tyed between Henry, Bardstown and Waggener.

District 5 - 1st place tyed between Russell, West Carter and Fleming Co.

District 7 - 4th place tyed between Morgan Co, Knott Co and Magoffin Co.

Knott and Morgan out of district oppents wins' equal to 5. Magoffin only has 1 out of district win over Betsy Layne and they have 0 wins so Magoffin will not be going to the playoffs.. Looks like it will come down to Knott and Morgan with Knott getting the 4th spot for their win over Morgan

How does that all work? You lost me there. What does outside wins got to do with it?

You want me to read all that on a Saturday? By the time I figure it out, next week games will be over and we can just read the results. hahahaha

Maybe one of the more bookworm types can explain it all to me.

When it comes to 3-way ties, it comes down to how many wins each team's out of district wins, have.

Knott Central has 3 out of district wins (East Ridge, South Floyd and Betsy Layne). Betsy Layne has 0 wins...South Floyd and East Ridge have 3 each so that makes Knott Central have 6.

Morgan County has 3 out of district wins (Betsy Layne, Allen Central and Jackson County) Jackson County has 1 win, Allen Central has 4 wins, totaling Morgan to 5.

Magoffin County has 1 out of district win (Betsy Layne) and of course Betsy Layne is winless so far this season, so Magoffin won't be going to the playoffs.

Either way it goes, Knott Central will be the 4th seed in District 7 and a date @ Corbin in two weeks.

I feel ya big man. Thanks for doing the heavy lifting and straigtening it out for me.

I think I understand that.

Now when there is one more week to play, couldn't those numbers change and maybe Morgan end up with more points than Knott? Like if Allen Central and Jackson win but East Ridge and S Floyd lose this week then Morgan would have 7 and Knott still have 6?

Yes, everything is in play. Just pay attention to the total wins of everyone you've beat (and root for them all to win next week!).

Out of district doesn't matter. It's the best four teams you've beat regardless of in or out of district. The only exclusion is teams in the tiebreaker, as you can't cou twins against each other.

If one of the teams in the tiebreaker has beat the other two that team automatically wins.

Line them all up and let's play. .

yes it does Cats...you can't use district teams for the tie-breaker. Says so in the bylaws on the KHSAA page.

my bad...just re-read it. You can't count the games against teams you're tied with, but you can count district games.

:thumb:. Very misunderstood part of the rules.

I like this thought (copied from another site):

I think Fleming should get bonus points for having the cojones to go to Russell and beat them. Obviously no one else in the district could. West Carter played them at home and didn't beat them. Bath talked smack about this being their year under a new regime and couldn't get it done. It should be worth 10 bonus points at least. Lol
