I just now learned of Patricia this morning. Crazy how these things pop out of nowhere. Kind of like Katrina. It was just another hurricane then it brought the wrath over the span of 24 hours.

Maybe I'm wrong, but something tells me Mexico is in no way equipped to deal with a storm of this magnitude. Not good.

When a hurricane crosses the international date line that is when it becomes a typhoon. So in the Pacific as long as it is east of the IDL it is called a hurricane after it crosses the IDL it is then called a typhoon.

This hurricane was earlier this morning rated as a CAT 5 with 200 mph winds. The worrying thing is that it could get stronger before landfall.

Probably would have already raised if this storm was in the Gulf of Mexico. I'd watch and see what happens when the hurricane or its remnants gets close to Texas. Wouldn't surprise me to see gas price go up next week.

Looks like there is another one northwest of this one, but it's still pretty far from landfall.

I say sit back and wait and then blame Jorge Bushquez for all the damage, the slow response, and the questionable infrastructure.

On a very serious note I hope everyone is preparing/evacuating. I have relatives that have lived through several of our worst ones (remember Hugo?) and it is hard to understand for those of us confined to the Midwest.
