Owensboro will make the over 2 hour trip to Graves County Friday night in an attempt to finish the district portion of their schedule without a loss. Graves County is an up and down team that when they're playing well, can put a scare into a lot of teams. I've seen posts from Graves County folks who believe this team is getting better each week. I'd even be willing to say there is a quite confidence down there that Graves can pull the upset over the heavily favored Red Devils. In order for Graves to do that, they'll have to establish the run game. The good news for the Eagles is they have the services of senior RB Dakota Dixon who has rushed for 872 yards this season. If Graves can run the ball, they'll eat clock, and that'll open up the passing game when needed.

Doing that, will be easier said than done against a very stout OHS defense. Owensboro is only allowing 64 rush yards per game and is averaging 253 yards rushing themselves per game. If Graves is able to slow down the OHS rushing attack, QB Zach Gross is an efficient 56-89 with 8 TD's. Graves will need to win 1st down a lot this Friday to have a chance. OHS' 2 headed monster running back combo of TJ James and Landon Board keep fresh legs coming at a defense for 4 quarters.

I think Graves has been circling this game for a while and I think they feel as though this game will be a measuring stick for them. I look for Graves to come out playing hard and with a lot of emotion. OHS just needs to be efficient, not have turnovers, and play solid football and they'll be fine. I can see this being a game for a half, maybe even longer. I do think the depth and big play capability of OHS will wear on Graves and the Devils win going away.

OHS needs to take the "business trip" approach Friday night.

Graves County 21

Could be an interesting game. Graves is better than what most folks think.

Is it true that if BG were to beat Greenwood on Friday that Graves County would travel to Greenwood Week 1 of the playoffs?

P88,

Yes Graves will be the #3 seed if they lose (assuming they've already beaten Marshall and Apollo). Owensboro seems to get the #4 from district 2 (Barren?), then the winner of the the #2 from district 2 (Greenwood I presume) or #3 from district 1 (Graves). Owensboro's path seems to be:

Barren at Rash

Greenwood at Rash

BG at Rash

Fern Creek at Rash

Nice to have all those at home. 2 tough games vs. BG and Fern before the state, but Oboro needs to be focused and take care of business this week. I think they do they are too experienced to come in overconfident. The scrimmage was 39-7 or something, take that for what it's worth.

I think Graves wins.

28-21

"I HOPE Graves wins"

I spoke with joe jackson " the voice of the eagles" & we told me that regardless of the outcome friday night that graves is locked into the #3 spot in the district..& that they will be traveling in the 1st game of the playoffs to greenwood!

Let me say this about Graves - they've played a very solid schedule:

Hoptown, Murray, Paducah Tighlman, Mayfield and they've come along nicely. They are a good program and they aren't going to lay down. I expect them to give a great effort.

Greenwood at Rash

BG at Rash

Fern Creek at Rash

Brown,

Nice to be at home for sure! Just can't see how O will lose on Friday. I'm not saying it will be easy, but the way they play, your defense has to be able to at least slow down a power running game and just not sure Graves can do that for 4 quarters.

Just my opinion, but I'll be SHOCKED if it isn't a rematch at Rash Stadium Week 3 of the Playoffs. Anything can happen and did last year when Graves beat BG at home. Also Christian is capable of beating BG; just don't think they will. Concerning the O vs BG rematch; let's let that one sit for a while! :D But look for it to be a great game again!

I really hope Owensboro wins. I hoped UK would beat Auburn, but I predicted they wouldn't. I was right. I hope I'm wrong.

If Graves wins then Christian might be the 1 seed. Having beating Hoptown 9-1 and Caldwell 8-2 or 9-1 would give them a lot of points in the tie breaker system. But if frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butt when they jump. Wishful thinking over here..

I dont see OHS getting very much respect on this board to be honest. Judging by the way they beat Christian County, i dont see this game being close. Having this game at Graves may prevent the clock from running but i dont think it helps Graves enough to win this game. Im not trying to disrespect Graves County here but OHS is one hell of a football team. They havent even put together a complete game this season and they have hardly been challenged. Looking back at the CC/Graves game a week ago, it seemed CC could have and maybe should have won by more. They seemed to control the game. At times, watching OHS/CC it felt like OHS could win by as much as they wanted to. I know Graves likes to run the football and that Devil defense is NASTY in the front 7. I like OHS to roll...

OHS 42

Graves 14

Owensboro's speed will give the Eagles big trouble. I see 3 picks from the young QB at Graves if and when they fall behind. No doubt he is doing a great job though for a Freshmen and will be an outstanding QB in the coming years.

As a true eagle fan I will give my honest opinion on the upcoming game..

1)OHS is a hell of a team..defense can hang with anyone and will give graves' young qb a fit..

2) Graves will have to run a double back set (misdirection) to try to confuse the ohs defense..having a double back set will allow the playaction to evolve and should mathis throw the ball, the backs can act as extra blocking support..this will give Mathis the much needed extra time to throw the ball.

3) I look for graves to hang around for 3 quarters but OHS pulling away late in the game..but I can see the rematch in week 3!

4) final score

OHS 38

GRAVES 31
