10th Region Cats Pause

Featured Replies

Mason and Campbell should be 1 and 1a. Pick the order and it's tough to go wrong.

How long has it been that Nicholas has been more highly regarded than Montgomery?

I would assume we would have to back to the 90's.

92-93 the lady jackets won the All A state and the girls sweet 16. And possibily in 97-98 when the Shasta McNabb led lady jackets had alot of success. But back then Nicholas was in the 37th district with Harrison, Bourbon and Paris so i guess that point is mute.

Agree with you 100% about the 10th. Lots of talent in this region. Also agree with you about Kramer and Jolly. I feel they bring a certain spark to the Camels that the others can't match. Mason is obviously loaded with talent and it's really going to boil down in MC to who gets more selfish with the ball. Everybody knows Cummins at Bracken is going to get her points. The real challange will be developing a support cast to create turnovers and get her the ball. At Scott I think you can throw small hand towel over Clephane, Kallmeyer and Stapleton they are so close. One is a better defender, one is a terrific shooter and the other is just freaky athletic.

Looking forward to some great fireworks out of all these girls this season!!!

Good luck to all

I completely agree. The lone senior starters will be the difference makers for this team. Kramer will be the team captain that has to motivate the other girls to reach their goal of making it to state. It should be an exciting season!

Holly Kallmeyer is a stud! She is one of the best players in NKy, when she is on her game! If she can get out of her own head she can have a fantastic senior year.

I hate to say it but I don't think Cummins is the best overall player in the region but is definitely a great scorer, needs better defense and more physical which is hard because of her size. Would love to see O'Mara and Cummins head to head on December 9th. Mason is still the heavy favorite to win district and region. The Lady Bears will be down from last year losing Collins, Jefferson, Jones, and Coach Kelsch. Not saying Bradshaw is a bad coach, but haven't seen him coach before and Patrick Kelsch was great. Bracken Players to watch: Freshman Kennedy Carl, Sophomore Kinley Ruf, Senior Bailey Cummins.

No question that Mason would have to be favorite going into season, but let's not forget that they didn't win the region in dominating fashion last season, so think it will be closer than some think.

Also, really have no reason to think that Bracken will be down. After all, they scored only 37 points and lost to Augusta by one in the district. A team they had beat by 24 earlier in the year, while scoring 69 points. As far as the players they lost to graduation, I think Jefferson, Kalb, Florer and Deaton can fill in quite nicely along with the players you mentioned. You noted that you haven't seen Bradshaw coach, so it would be hard to assess that they would be down for that reason, as well.

Bradshaw won't be turning water into wine down there ...

I know he really focuses on having fundementals and defense. Can compete with a lot teams having that.

Last season they were also sophomores. They now are fully experienced juniors, I myself cannot wait to see them grow the next two seasons and see everything they can accomplish.

True. But a lot of the players they played against last season obviously have another year on them as well.

Several of the region's top players from a season ago also graduated. I really don't think there is another team in the region that is as deep as Mason County and Campbell County. That being said I realize anyone can beat anyone in a single game elimination tournament, but if Mason and Campbell stay healthy there's not another team in the region who can beat them except each other IMO.

Alot of them graduated also.

Of course they did, that's why I said "a lot" and not "all".

Since you put it that way, I'd better behave!:lol2:
