10th Region Cats Pause

Featured Replies

The best player doesn't always score the most points. Don't get me wrong Cummins is a really good player but she doesn't play the defense that O'Mara or Clos does. I think O'Mara and Clos are the two best overall players in the Region. But that's just my opinion. It's not worth much.

Bailey improved tremendously on defense over the summer and she lead her team in assists. As usual she was a scoring machine but she also distributed the ball very well. I think all 3 kids are great players and look forward to watching some good 10 Region basketball this year.

Understand things get crowded but not easy to leave off a Taylor Jolly from CC and a Sydney Shannon from BB from the list.

Same with Jordan Frodge and Brianna Littleton from Mason.

Cant wait for basketball

Welcome to the site!

Over the last few years I've became a huge supporter of the 10th region, no disrespect to the 9th... I think the number of athletes in this region is phenomenal! But I do think the top players list is completely wrong. Not to get anything started with the camels, but I would pick Kramer to be on my team before Clos any day. Overall I think she offers more up to the table. I would also have Jolly on the list as well! I think Stapleton for Scott is without a doubt should be in the top 3. I'm sure Kallmeyer and Celephane would have something to say about the top 10 as well from Scott. We all know we could go on and on about the list and we all have our opinions, but it is nice to share them! HA! I'm just glad I don't have to put the list together, it would be too stressful.

IMO the best overall player at Campbell County is Mackenzie Schwaber and she should be considered for Top Player in Region. She draws the toughest defensive assignment night after night and guards all 5 positions for the Camels, is one of their top re bounders and assist leaders as well. Mackenzie makes other around her better and covers a lot of her teams mistakes. Her offensive skills are under rated because she is comfortable in letting Clos, Jolly get their points, but when needed she can drop 20 points on a team.

I love the way she plays unselfishly! She is definitely a great player. If I recall, I believe she put up over 20 points against Scott in the district finals this past year and was really the main reason the camels ran away with the game. She may even have had a double-double. I really like her game.

Different types of players are hard to compare. The bottom line is that top to bottom the Lady Camels are going to be a force. Clos, Jolly, Schwaber... I believe Mason County is good this season but I think the Camels will be better and should be ranked #1.

IMHO I also believe Scott is ranked too high. I don't think their key players will be able to keep up this year.

I also think Montgomery County should be higher than ten. They are a team not to be taken lightly and I believe will finish much higher than 10th in the region.

I would have to completely disagree with that statement. If you look at last season Stapleton stepped up from shooting guard to point and blew all expectations away. Now it will be her second year at that spot and she'll be more comfortable and won't feel as much pressure. This girl has grown so much over the years, I believe she's the most underrated player in the region. Then you have Kallmeyer, granted she's a firecracker and she let's herself get in her own way sometimes. But man, when she just plays she's the best athlete in the region. She is quick, fast, can jump out of the gym, and in the press she will get just about every long ball thrown. Then of course is Celephane. Second year starter, I see her stepping up more this year and turn some heads. They have Dant in the middle. She's not as talented as the other three, but she is aggressive and if I'm not mistaken had a great game against GRC's two big girls last year. Bottom line, I believe there is too much talent and experience that even if they do screw up a time or two it wouldn't matter as much because their experience would take over. I wouldn't knock them out yet.....

Mason and Campbell should be 1 and 1a. Pick the order and it's tough to go wrong.

How long has it been that Nicholas has been more highly regarded than Montgomery?

You are absolutely right. She is so unselfish that she gets looked over, like I just did . She is a force to be reckoned with. You look at her size and you think how is she going to handle any bigs, then by the end of the game you feel sorry for that big girl for having to try to keep up with Schwaber. She put on a show in districts and shocked teams. I believe this girl hasn't reached her peak yet and will continue to get better.. Which is a scary thought.

Somewhat irrelevant, I know, but I believe Mason may have won all but one of their AAU tournaments this summer without all of their starters, including who most consider their best player, Omara.

Agreed, tough to make too many assumptions based off summer ball. A good sign nevertheless for the Lady Royals.

Not that there's ANY connection, but I recall that when Mason County won the boys state title in 2003, they went into the final game against Ballard very confident because they had defeated them a couple of times during the summer. Sometimes there's a nice carryover.

You have to look at the competition they were playing against though. What tournaments were they in? The only player I saw at elite exposure events was O'Mara who performed very well.

Can't say for sure the level competition.

Again, one of the reasons I said it was irrelevant.
