Does the Boyle/Lexington Catholic loser...

...not make it past the second round of the playoffs? Assuming Central wins District 3 and both teams win their first playoff game, the Boyle/Catholic loser would be at Central in Round 2. It would be incredible to see one of the state title favorites bow out that early.

That is what is different this year. A strong contender in the opposite district.

Its no given there will be a re-match as it has often been.

Depends on who wins. If Boyle County loses this Friday I still think they can win state unless LexCath blows them out on Friday night. If LexCath loses then I can see them losing in second round to Central.

I think either team can lose and still beat Central.

In all fairness to all, when was the last time have we seen Lou Central play? I saw them play 2 season ago and they got their teeth handed to them by a week Lafayette team. Now I understand that they have been to the 3A championship the past seasons, but 3A is A LOT stronger now that it was before. So they might have been world beaters then in 3A, it's different now. So yeah if BC plays Central, BC will take them down. If LexCath plays them, well they might, but not guarantee.

No matter how the cards fall on this one only 1 of the top 5 3A teams in the state will make it to the final four. Boyle , Lex Cath and Central are all legitimate contenders and only one of them will make it out of that region. Brutal

That is exactly right.

I haven't seen them play. But they took down St Xavier THIS year. That's enough to warrant my attention. :thumb:

Umm.. Central lost to Lafayette last year by 14 but that same Lafayette team beat LexCath by 10 didn't they?

Two years ago Central beat Lafayette and so did LexCath... not sure how much stock I would put into those results to support your claims.

They've stood toe-to-toe with Belfry every time they've played and most are willing to say Belfry is capable of playing with Boyle and Catholic. They beat South Warren last season when many were calling the Spartans the 3A favorite. And they've already knocked off St. Xavier and Christian Academy-Louisville this season, both top five teams in their respective classes.

You may think Boyle and Catholic can beat Central and that's fine. You may well be right. But judging them based on an early-season performance against Lafayette two years ago seems like the wrong way to approach the discussion.

Lets also not forget Central was beating a Top 5-7 6A Manual team until a couple costly turnovers set the Crimsons up to win that game.

The Yellowjackets have played three really solid teams..

Meaning beating a top tier team like Boyle Co. Oh BTW Lafayette was winning by only 3pts and a late pick 6 to end the game, so 10 pts??? Sure it covered the point spread.

Like beating St. Xavier this year?
