I have always wanted to see both teams on the field for the National Anthem. I'm not sure why we don't do it and some may think it is not important. I for one feel that it is important. Why should the players be left out while everyone else in the stadium pays tribute to this wonderful country we live in. I would see no problem with once both teams come out onto the field have them line up on the sideline take their helmets off put their right hands over their heart. Play the anthem and then play some football. I realize that some may think differently.

We always did it with 3minutes left on the clock during the kickoff countdown. Band director & the PA guy had it down to a science.

I for one, would just like it if the bands could get their stuff together and play this song with the enthusiasm it was meant. Nothing worse than a High School marching band struggling through F. S. Key...

Why not line them up just like in baseball?

I love the playing of the National Anthem and wish the teams were in the field when they played the song. I love saluting the flag when it plays and wish all veterans at the games would do the same.

I will be honest as a player being in the locker room hear in the anthem being played kimd of pumped me up. Finishing up pre game speech coach would be quiet during anthem it was last thing before it was go time. I like the idea of being on the field but being in the locker room final preparations ready to go I to battle with your team was a neat feeling

I love to hear "a local" sing the anthem, esp. when it is a high school kid. That takes guts. It doesn't have to be perfectly sung, but please just sing it straight without much embellishment. The song is about what our country stands for, not about the singer's stylistic interpretation of the song.

 

BTW, it is not protocol to place the right hand over one's heart. That is called for while saying the pledge of allegiance.

 

And while I am at it, ALL men should remove their hats during the playing of the national anthem.

Thank you. I never place my hand over my heart during the National Anthem and sometimes people look at me like I'm doing something wrong. Occasionally, people ask me why I don't. I've always told them it's not appropriate, some think I'm wrong. I'm as patriotic as anyone, but the hand over the heart is not warranted.
