If there is one silver lining tonight...how Belfry held LC to 10 points off turnovers when LC literally started inside the Belfry 30 five times is quite impressive. Even then, the Defense gave up 150 yards and 14 points on two plays, to a team who isn't exactly the second coming of the Green Bay Packers. You give up 14 points to Central, Boyle, or Caldwell and you lose tonight with how bad the Offense was....

 

Any chance that being the Kings of 3A for two years running and #1 to start this year went to their heads a little bit? Surely Cabell Midland alone didn't set Belfry football back 15 years.

 

As for the bolded, I just watched the highlights of this game on the local news and Robert Dalton was wiiiiide open on the first TD reception. Between LC, Tates Creek, and Knoxville Catholic, how big of a concern is the back end of the defense right now? If Belfry were to advance to BG, I could see someone like Josiah Robbins having a field day. Not to mention, they might have to go through LC again.

Obviously turnovers affected Belfry, Lawrence County cashed in on some of the opportunities, but missed on others, missing two field goals (i believe) that would have won the game had they connected. But my question is this. With no turnovers, how does this game play out? If Lawrence cashes in on each turnover its a MASSIVE upset of a scoring margin in favor of LC I would assume. I ask from a Raceland fan's perspective in comparing a few scores (though now days thats nearly a wash due to matchup situations).

 

1. Paintsville beats Pikeville in over time on the shoulders of Kash Daniel.

2. Belfry thumps Pikeville in Pond Creek.

3. Raceland defeats LC on the road thanks to Bailey Walker ripping the ball out of Mosely's hands, in a game that after watching several times I though Belfry would beat either of the two about like they did Pikeville.

4. The Bulldogs take the Pirates down to the wire.

 

Without the fumbles, does Belfry put a running clock on LC? One could argue that if only HALF the turnovers turned into scoring drives, Belfry wins by 3-5 TDs. Just looking for some opinions from both the Dawgpound and PondCreek faithful.

Without the fumbles this game is very lopsided with the way LC played. LC stunk it up too in their own right.

 

Two of Belfrys fumbles were in the redzone and when they held on to the ball they basically drove at will. Pirates had to punt only once. Outside of the two long passes LC could not move the ball on Belfry.

 

Probably 42-14 or 35-7 if Belfry held on to the ball. They did not do that though and truth be told have yet to show that they can go without putting on the ground multiple times to a team with any semblance of physicality up front.

So close but so far for the Dawgs.

I have been following Belfry football for 30+ years and this was the ugliest performance I have ever been a part of.

They were great. Belfry was overwhelmed and outclassed . Belfry turned it over last week but outside of those turnovers could not move the ball on offense.

 

CM offensively got essentially everything they wanted and dominated Belfry.

 

Last night despite the turnovers it was clear Belfry was still the superior team between turnovers. Last week Cabell Midland was the superior team.

Did Lawrence play well? Or did Belfrys defense step up just enough after turnovers.

congrats to the pirates.they will be fine come playoff time.i know penalties and turnovers is part of the game but to have that many turnovers and still win is pretty impressive.good luck to all teams the rest of the season.
