LIKE TO help us CONGRATULATE David Giles on his unofficial NEW RECORD KENTUCKY BULL ELK -- 408-3/8" gross green score!!!

Learn details about Giles' hunt in the Fall Issue of Kentucky Afield magazine (subscribe here:https://app.fw.ky.gov/license/kyafield.aspx)

Mr. Giles took the bull in Knott County on Saturday during the bull elk weekend. Photo credit - Doug Giles.

Saw this posted on KDFW Facebook page. A freaking monster.

For reference the B&C record is 442 5/8.

Ah, all the forage and no predation (except for hunters and Me,2C,LRCW,Plantman) the next WR will likely come from the Commonwealth. Dude's on the hook for a nice taxidermy bill now. That's just awesome.

Dude better have some high ceilings where he plans to hang that big boy!

Not a hunter but I had no idea we had beasts that big in KY. WOW!!!

So...how in the heck do you get that thing to the truck?

You quarter it, like a beef.

Please don't tease Doc about Mountain Lions. And based on the Mountain Lions I saw up close and personal at the zoo they don't want any part of that beast.

And I am NOT anti-hunting and I do eat meat but it is a shame to see such a beautiful animal killed by human hand for what I assume is sport.

No doubt the driving force is sport. Most hunters, at least all the ones I know, either eat the meat, give it away to somebody who will, or donate it to hunters for the hungry or something like that. I don't think much goes to waste.

On a related note, a client brought me some elk meat today and I can't wait to try my hand at fixing it. I love it.

I've watched hunting shows in the Cascade and Rocky Mnt. ranges where the hunters are going nuts over harvesting a 7x7 (rack). This bohemoth appears to be a 8x9.

Looks like the reclaimed mining lands in EKY are providing a good fit for these elk to flourish. And I'd like to think there isn't a bit of elk meat wasted on this animal. KDFW polices the elk hunts pretty well from what I understand!

Well I would doubt that this dude doesn't eat the meat. Elk is as good as it gets. I'd be shocked if any elk, anywhere, goes uneaten.

If you hit a deer with your car would make sure the meat didn't go to waste?
