So Ryle is undefeated?

I thought it would be a close game. Both teams are quite good.

 

From Boone playing both teams I thought Cooper's defense was better at tackling but Ryle has more athletes.

7 - 0 ........I would say both defenses had a decent night, with Ryle getting the edge. I heard Cooper frosh team is now without 3 of their top skill kids from that 8th grade squad. The 3 that I know about are definitely playmakers and game changers. keep working with what you got young Jags!

I attended this game and heard the same thing. It is a shame to hear that there are talented players that decided not to play. However if they don't want to be a part of a team, then a team can't worry about them and no reason to talk about them. From listening to people in the stands, tonight's result was better than a scrimmage these two teams apparently had in 8th grade last year even with those players who chose not to play. So sounds like the young jags will be fine with the young men who decided to play.

 

This was a fun game to watch and both teams played hard. It was also a game of neither team being able to finish off drives. Cooper had the ball inside Ryle's 30 four times and came up short. Ryle had the ball in the red zone a few other times and only got one touchdown to show for it. Good defense by both teams to make drives stall.

 

I am not sure who Cooper plays next. However I believe Ryle will be playing Highlands and CovCath soon. I definitely will try to make it out for those games, they should be good ones.

Ryle off next week, then at SK Oct 15th, Highlands at home on the 22nd, CCH at home on the 29th, according to their website.

Campbell County has a 6:00 game on their schedule at Ryle next Wednesday

Yes. Ryle agreed to play the first game with CC when Holmes didn't have their team organized yet. Ryle won

10 sacks?! Cooper's QB (Milburn?) is an excellent player and ripped long runs against Boone. How did he do against Ryle? Sounds like Ryle was able to corral him.

Do you mean 3 players who were in Ryle's system for 8th grade decided not to go out for Freshman football at Ryle? Or is this number among those who are still injured at Cooper. I know Cooper had a number of players injured when Boone played them recently.

I typed the wrong school there. I was talking about Cooper because someone previously mentioned that they had 3 players from their 8th grade team who didn't wind up at Cooper. I typed Ry;e when I meant Cooper.

 

As to Boone Co. being a strict boundary school system, I wouldn't describe it that way. It is a closed district, but where there is a will there is a way. Here's a few, some legit, some not so:

 

1. Move to a new location.

2. Go to a parochial school.

3. Pay to go to a school district that accepts people outside their district, like Walton Verona and Beechwood.

4. If a parent works for the school system you can choose which of the 4 schools in Boone you want your kid to go to. This is a benefit for school employees. This is how O'hara wound up playing for Ryle and his older brother graduated from Boone.

5. List a kid's home address as that of an address in your chosen school even though he doesn't live there. For instance, he has a grandparent that lives in the district that he wants to attend so list him as living with the grandparents.

6. Use some other fictitious address.

 

All six of those happen. Only four of them are legit.

 

I have no idea who those three players are or which option they used. And I don't care to know.
