Belfry 38 Knoxville Catholic (TN) 14

Pirates look impressive... Dominate a pretty darn good team.

Belfry is legit. Road gets even tougher next week against the best WV has to offer.

This one was never really in doubt. Pirates roll up the yardage as KC simply did not know how to defend a team like Belfry that they dont see in Tennessee.

Amari Rodgers, the USC commit, is the REAL DEAL. He was basically all the KC offense as the Belfry Defense really played well and held KC to probably -20 or more rush yards.

Good for Belfry to see that kind of raw talent, next week is a different story as Cabell Midland is built to defend Belfry. Cabell Midland hasalready beat defending champ Capital and lead #3 South Charleston right now.

For as dominant as Belfry was..lots to work on as ver

427 rushing yards (Willis 158, 54 receiving Catron 103 Corbett 102)

54 Passing

481 Total Yard for Belfry

KC

Cunningham 18/33 344 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT

Rodgers 9 rec, 225 yards, TD... BALLER

I wasn't expecting that kind of game.

Belfry's defense was tough and I thought set the tone for the game. They gave up 3 or 4 big plays, and a lot of that was directly just Rodger's athleticism. Rodgers was not the only playmaker and to limit that team to 14 points was a really good night for the Pirates.

The secondary really grew up a lot I think tonight. You could see them making plays that they were not making a couple of games ago. Tates Creek and NewCath had some success, but were not the caliber of team that Knoxville Catholic is. To say I am excited would be an understatement.

If your team never sees this type of offense that Belfry runs, and your kids are not familiar with it, it would be tough to prepare for in a week. The Irish stacked the box with 10 men, and did a pretty good job of stopping the fullback, but the option gave them fits and the occasional 2nd back was a home run for the Pirates. Belfry was able to establish drives and eat up clock and keep the Irish offense off the field. Textbook Belfry football.

Great win for Belfry and Mountain Football tonight! I watched Cabell Midland play JC in a scrimmage earlier in the year and they are big and tough. JC won the game by a few scores, but the WVU commit CM has on the defensive line is huge and the real deal. Looks like Gronk from the Patriots out there playing defense.

This was a great win against a quality opponent and I hope they can repeat the effort next week.

On a side note I have to get on my soap box for a second....

If Ray Horton is not a major D-1 player I will freely admit I dont have the slightest clue about football!!!!!!!

This kid is so darn good and it floors me he doesnt have major colleges beating his door down. Tonight he DOMINATED... I stress the word DOMINATED... a kid who is 6'6 305 and is committed to Tennesse and has been offered by Alabama. Every game this kid makes plays despite being double teamed.

I have seen him dominate All-State Linemen, a guy who had a full ride to EKU, Henry Clay's Sully Simpson, and any other linemen someone puts in front of him.

I know people want to say at 6'2 295 he is too short or too small... BOULDERDASH... last night on ESPNU I saw the #2 DT in the entire country out in Texas.. he is 6'2 275.. 20 pounds lighter and the same height.

All this kid does is go out and control the tempo of the game every week and make play after play. He can rush the passer, he can diagnose screens, he single handily ruins running games, and his pursuit is unreal for a kid his size.

Someone is about to get a steal and for my money Horton is the most dominant Defensive presence in the entire State of Kentucky.

What year is he? Is anyone besides you promoting the kid? Send some game film to Stoops.

X Willis is a different player on the field this year by the way. Wow! Another sterling performance.

The Belfry LB'ers are coming along very nicely and Wellman is turning into a headhunter. Love the playmaking ability of this Defense.

Next week is a different animal.. Cabell Midland has no beat the two other top teams in the entire State of WV. Unlike this team they are built for Belfry's power game and have the offensiv mindset not to settle for the homerun ball.

I am ecstatic with 5-0 right now and think Belfry is right where they want to be. They continue to show scary type of ability on both sides of the ball, great size, great depth, and the ability to manufacture big plays.... but still a loooong way to go and lots of mistakes. For as dominant as Belfry was all in all I still think it was a B or B- type of performance compared to what they can do at their best.

Junior

He has been getting some D-1 attention and Kentucky knows him well and have hosted him on unofficials...but no offers yet.

If there is any kid in the Class of 2017 with the potential to blow up like Daniel it is Horton. He has been dominating teams since he was a Freshman. He has around 35 or 36 sacks in his career already as a Junior.

Thanks for the info. Hope to see him playing for the Cats in a couple years.

I had Belfry winning this one and believe I took them in the tie breaker in the contest on here.

congrats to the pirates

Belfry just being Belfry

Great win Belfry...can't wait till the 3A playoffs.
