I'd take a Muslim woman or an atheist woman over most of what the GOP has to offer.

You dont have to like " most" just pick one thats better than Hillary , and that shouldnt be hard to do . Vote for Rubio . Great candidate, prob not perfect in your eyes but he didnt store our nations secrets on a server at his home in Florida , and then lie about it .

This man is a world renown neurosurgeon he is far more qualified to speak on all things science then everyone on this board put together.

 

Science is also never proven just accepted until further proof comes along.

I say that jokingly, but, really, I'll be honest and admit that I wouldn't hesitate voting for an attractive female if the candidates were equal.

Who are you taking out exactly? I know people have associated Washington and Jeffersion with Deism. I've saw speculation that Lincoln might have been atheist or agnostic.

 

Roosevelt I don't recall ever reading anything about him not being a Christian.

Jefferson clearly couldn't be elected, he wasn't "associated" with Deism, he expressly expressed a belief in a Creator God, but expressly rejected the idea of the trinity, and expressly rejected the idea that Jesus was the Son of God or in any way divine. I just don't think a candidate could get elected in today's climate expressing those views. Lincoln had complicated views, and did not express them openly very often, but I have read a lot about Lincoln through the years, (a personal fave of mine) and I think a fair summary is that "early Lincoln" was nearly atheist/agnostic but at best a deist, and rejected, like Jefferson, the divinity of Christ. "Later Lincoln" clearly believed in God, but questioned his nature, quite famously, and those closest to him, his lawyer, his personal secretary, and his wife, all said that he "was not a Christian." Expertise in one area of science does not mean that someone has expertise in all areas of science.

 

This is what bugs me about Bill Nye . He had a kid show and put "Science guy"at the end of his name now out of nowhere he is treated as one of our nation's leaders in scientific study.

For the record Lincoln being an atheist or agnostic is highly disputed and most historians I read do not agree .

William Herndon is the main reason for Lincoln atheist talk. He knew Lincoln as a younger man in their law firm during his days of being skeptical of religion. Which I think most young people including myself go through.

 

William Herdon wasn't there as Lincoln grew into own faith . That is why most people around Lincoln described him as a Christian who didn't belong to a specific church even though he attended Sunday mass with Mary Todd often .

 

Most historical data and quotes from Lincoln after his sons death also show his faith strengthn after that point.

Lipton, I didn't say he was an atheist, said nearly was, and further qualified it by saying "early Lincoln." Later, Lincoln very clearly believed in God, but never joined a church, and Herndon, his lawyer friend, is one source that says he was not a Christian in any ordinary sense of the word. Most of the sources that knew him best are in agreement on this. In any event, it is enough of an issue that he would be unelectable for this.
