September 25, 201511 yr Jimmy Carter was a born again Evangelical. While he was an awful president I do not recall his religious beliefs affecting any policies. He took great pains not to interject his religious beliefs into it. Hell, even Reagan did, to a degree. I just don't have as much faith in the current crop of GOP would-be Presidents to avoid that temptation. Huckabee chief among them.

Reagan wasn't particularly religious, he played the part like just about every other president. I agree on Huckabee and Carson, don't see much of it in the others outside of playing to the base. Just don't see it as an issue affecting the running of the country.
September 25, 201511 yr Author No of course not, but it doesn't mean that what he does isn't massively influential. If nothing else, the president appoints the Secretary of Education and the West Wing oversees staffing in that cabinet department. Like it or not, the president's voice is influential on the country and there's a significant portion of the American electorate that's not comfortable with a leader that looks at the available facts and information, digests it, and then says "Nah, I like this over here." It's not about absolute proof one way or the other, it's about having the tendency to look at a mountain of evidence of a thing being a certain way and then choosing the other. I'm not among them, but I see why that's a MASSIVE problem for a lot of people. This sums it up perfectly for me and no way Carson has a chance at my vote. Btw, did anyone watch the video but me?

September 25, 201511 yr This man is a world renown neurosurgeon he is far more qualified to speak on all things science then everyone on this board put together. Science is also never proven just accepted until further proof comes along. Expertise in one area of science does not mean that someone has expertise in all areas of science.
