It is my sincere hope that if Mr. Miller is found guilty of this that he is expelled from his position at Campbell County Schools. I am a believer that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander and no double standards should be accepted.

I don't recall the last time we had an alleged wife beater as superintendent...(or any other DV case)

So how will you (should we) determine what an equitable application of the rules is considered?

He could man up, admit he was out of line, apologize publicly for embarrasing the school system and his family and go get some help...in his retirement speech. That would be a totally viable option that I could respect...if he just retires because that's the easy way out, then good riddance....all of this of course assuming he either pleads or is found guilty

I'm not familiar with Campbell County's policy...so, are you saying that if a student got in a fight at home (or really anywhere outside of school), they would be expelled?

First, I pray he and his wife (I guess that's who he was fighting with), are able to work things out that benefit all parties. Not saying if the charges are true, but at first glance it wasn't something higher than 4th degree, not saying what may have happened was okay. We simply do not know what happened, and possibly he is resigning to save the family a long public look into their private lives.

 

Second, it's sad for Campbell Co, if he even did a part of what he did for Beechwood, that is a lot of stuff he did for them.

No, I'm saying if a student smacked around another student (or administrator) and was charged / convicted, they would likely face an expulsion hearing. To clear up the vaugeness, the CC school system is not necessarily ,known for it's ability to apply the punishment(s) in an equitable fashion.

 

In this case, the guy is at the top of the food chain and is held to a higher standard...if he did what is alleged, he needs to go...if he's a stand up guy, he will do it by accepting responsibility rather than just being a coward and resigning.

The guy clearly has enough years to retire. This was not going to play out well for him either way so he is taking the easy way out.

 

Hopefully this mistake doesn't tarnish all the positive things he has done for kids and school districts during his career.

It's not about what you respect, it is about what is best for him and the district. Appears you don't like him or have a vendetta. I understand why you believe that, if that is so. However, he does not owe you anything. I have a hard time believing anything has been easy for him.

You are correct, because I do not have respect for him, provided this is true. You are also correct that it is what's best for the district, and that would be for him to go. I don't have a vendetta against this guy, he just really hasn't done a lot for the district, I don't really care one way or the other, except for the fact that if this is true, it's a terrible example of leadership at the top.

 

You are incorrect thou, because he does owe me and everyone else in the district the higher standard of personal responsibility and restraint. I pay his salary, like the the other taxpayers, so I get to say, that's the game he got in.

 

I'm sure it hasn't been easy for him, but that's 100% on him. He has created his own reality and now has to live with it. I suspect he will very quietly retire and not feel like he "owes" anything to the people who have supported him while he was superintendent....if he's guilty, then I hope he gets help for whatever his issues are. Losing his job just comes as a result of his personal actions.
