Best movie ever!

If you are a voter who believes there is no such thing as a good Muslim and that Islam is a threat to the country, which candidates appeal to you?

What Earnest said, effectively, is that Trump and Carson have swelled in popularity due to voters like my hypothetical above. And that there are enough of them that the other candidates and the party have been cautious not to alienate those voters.

There's a lot to talk about there, but I don't think his analysis is too far off the mark.

It's not off the mark in regards to the candidates. But when you start citing examples of state races then you are making a false blanket statement. That's where I jump off the train.

The Scalise example?

Maybe he should turn some of his righteous indignation on Hillary.

Hillary has to be ticked that Trump is getting more traction with the charges than she was able to in 2008.

Having spent a lot of time in local and state politics, dealing with politicians of both major parties, it's given me a lot of disdain for both sides.

I find myself in the middle most of the time because I can't support the full platform of either party. Being in the middle is kind of like going to a youth baseball game where your son isn't playing. You don't have a strong rooting interest in the outcome. And so the crazy behaviors of all the other parents are really clear to you.

I get so tired of the few hardliners on this site and other who think all the bad people are in the other party. So when words like 'racist' get thrown around so easily it just makes me numb.

I can't believe I have to say this but there are good and bad people in both parties. Some of best, smartest people I've ever known are Republicans. And some of the biggest jerks I've ever known are also Republicans. Those same things can be said for Democrats I've worked with.

If you think all the racists in America are in the Republican party, you're sadly misinformed. If you knew anything about political demographics you would know that if you're voting Democrat your whole life, you're voting for a lot of racists. You will choose to ignore that because you want to be on the side where all the 'good guys' are...so you can point to the other side and say loudly that they're the 'bad guys'. Same for many Republicans who like to point to the Dem party as dope smoking felons who want everything in life for free. It makes you feel good inside. Like you're actually a good person.

This constant ripping apart of the faces of the opposing party is just intellectual laziness. If you can paint someone as a bad person (racist, liar) you don't have to engage in thoughtful policy discussions. If they're the bad guys, then we're the good guys.

I don't have time for people like you.

In national politics there are some good people trying to get things done (on both sides). But there are too many selfish people who only care about getting re-elected.

Here's my vote for term limits, now that I think about it.

Ok, rant over. Carry on.

Obama is a bigger racist than most out there.

And none of that has anything to do with race or being a racist. Earnest isn't speaking for himself he is speaking on behalf of the White House. In essence the White House/Obama have turned this, like everything else, into a racial issue.

Again, someone please tell me what remarks made by the Trump supporter or Ben Carson were racist.

Carson said America was too racist to elect a Muslim as POTUS. Then he backtracked. Then he got a bump in fundraising and popularity.

Wasn't aware of that which shouldn't come as a surprise.:D

The White House was basically addressing the Trump supporter, at least in the clip that's embedded in this thread. Nothing the guy said was racial or am I missing something?

If you read Earnest's statement then I don't know where you are getting "racist" from.

Nope. My point is that Carson and Obama both kind of say the same thing. Both fellas believe they are right. Both statements condemn America and Americans to a certain extent. One is scolded and the other is revered. That doesn't make sense.

PP92 raises a interesting point that each party and a equally divided America all think they are right. How long will it be before someone suggests that America splits into two different nations? The division is very strong.

It's already started. See: Texas. :lol2:

Kidding...kind of.

It would never happen. Too much at stake in our capitalist society. People from both sides would have sacrifice their values to reap the benefits from the other side of to make a living. Plus as soon as the sports starts being messed with major problems will take place.

I guess I read to much into a David Duke reference and defending the Confederate flag.
