You cannot put Beechwood ahead of Highlands in my opinion, especially after this past Fri. Also, one of the fallicies here is at number 10 being Ludlow. Yes they are having a nice year for a 1A school, but do you honestly believe Ludlow beats Conner, Campbell County and Boone Co? Or even Lloyd?

 

This is no knock on Ludlow as I think they are doing some great things athletically across the board but when ranking a top 10 in Northern KY. it is hard to fathom a Ludlow or a Bellevue or a Dayton if they are having a really good year competing with the 6A schools.

Realistically no. But here is my infallable reasoning. Last year was an extremely close game. While both teams have improved, we have improved more. We now have a very balanced attack featuring a top notch passing game and a fresh legged 4 headed monster that can kill you with speed, power, combinations of both. Pick your poison. The D is pretty tough on the run and SK only has 1 (very good) back. We will be fresher and stronger come the second half. So far this season we are lights out after halftime.

 

Fair enough. We thankfully have the ability to find out how RHS and SK match up later this season. Right now I think it's a coin flip but I do feel based on the bodies of work, SK gets the nod (although not by much). That doesn't mean I don't think Ryle comes out on top either.

Rankings IMO are based on who you think is better TODAY.

 

I'd give NCC the edge over Scott.

To answer your questions, the reason I still have Highlands in the top 5 is because their losses have come at the hands of NKY #3 Cooper, NKY #2 Ryle, and Scott County & St. X teams that I see very few teams around Northern Kentucky beating. Their schedule hasn't been an easy one (much like Cov Cath's). In that regard, they're getting a little benefit of the doubt. I also had to just ask myself, "Would team x beat Highlands if they played?", and even though the Birds are 1-4, in most cases, I couldn't see many team x's beating them.

 

Also, as to putting New Cath over Scott, their game in week 0 was an ugly one for both teams, and Scott only won by one point. New Cath has had nice showings against Campbell County, Belfry, and Harrison County since then, and when you add in the fact that they played Scott without the benefit of Jacob Smith (who ran for 10.17 yards per carry and 4 touchdowns this week against Harrison County), and I have to think New Cath would come home with the win if they had a rematch at this stage of the season.

Those games go along way in determining the best in the area. Say we lose to Cooper (GOD forbid again) but beat SK, then what? We control our own destiny. We just have to get the sweep.

At least Campbell Co is off this list, they should have been gone after week 2.

Not worked up at all, it's just common to post your own if you disagree with them. Where would you put NewCath and HHS and why? It comes up on a lot of rankings. People will disagree but when asked to rank and defend their choices they choose not to. Not a big deal as it's all just for conversation. You say HHS is not a top 5? Who behind them do you think would beat them and why? Personally I could have gone with Beechwood ahead of them until last week. Don't see anyone else below them that would beat them. On NCC I agree that at this point in time they would beat Scott based on the results of the first game as well as events since then.
